Once I was flagged down by a guy in a lowered but otherwise stock looking e46 - other then some black rims (never a good sign). He knew what and e30 was, seemed really interested, so we pulled over and we all started chatting.

He then went on to tell us that he had his exhaust shop cut his front springs to get a "bit more low" - but the rears he couldn't cut. He opened up the trunk to reveal a trunk full of cider blocks. It looked like a good 300 pounds or so. I kid you not.

Before I had my E30 I had an SVT Focus which I had put a Jackson Racing blower on. Super car, put down around 200whp but was an unintercooled kit so that was about all the more it was going to do. About 6 years into owning it I had bought my E30 as a second car and started to grow bored with the SVTF so I decided to sell it. A nice younger kid and his parents came to drive it, made an offer and we went to get the title all squared away. Along the way the kid starts talking how hes going to tune it with Hondata and put a smaller pulley on it and all this. I tried to tell him was not going to tune a ford and putting a smaller pulley would only harm the motor since it had no intercooler....but I wasn't going to talk him out of buying it so I stopped.

A year or two later I see the car up on craigslist for sale, for the same price I sold it for and a copy and paste of my original for sale ad AND with a normal Zetec motor in it? (The SVT's engine was a zetec but has a Cosworth designed head, headers, intake manifold and is visually different). I emailed them and asked why the car didn't have the correct the engine it still. The guy told me the supercharger that they installed had to much "downforce" on the crank and blew the motor so they put in a regular zetec engine because they are stronger...the SVT's come with forged connecting rods. I got a laugh out of it, told the guy the car was mine and that they had ruined it and were misrepresenting what the car was and flagged it for removal. And then again when it was relisted.

Most of my BMW owner interactions since I got my E30 have been positive, met some nice people at the CCA meeting, and the autocross, and plenty of good folks down at WOT-Tech.

One time I was at a dealer parts counter in search of a clip, and was told my car didn't exist. I must be confused because "BMW first produced the M3 in 1995." To his credit, he was somewhat apologetic after I showed him the door jamb sticker.

Ive had people at the actual BMW dealer say my car doesnt exist until they put it in. And its just a 1989 325i.

One time I called and the lady was certain i was saying 1999, told her "eight-nine" like 3 times and she said they didnt make one that year lol.

One guy i talked to at a gas station said his neighbors E34 M5 was 4WD and that he 4WD drifts it at a track.

I love stories like that. I swear everyone has a neighbor with a 10 second car.

Working at a dealership I get lost people all the time. Best one of recent was a kid talking about his buddies Fiesta ST. The kid was on point for the most part saying how his buddy was pushing nearly 300whp with full bolt ons and a new turbo. The kid had to go off the deep end though and top off the story with the kid converted it to AWD and it runs 0-60 in 2.8 seconds and hits the quarter mile in under 11 seconds. All respect went out the window at that point.

                              Autocorrect doesn't fix grammar errors.
