        Saw it launch from about 20 miles away. Thats the closest I have been to it taking off. It was a sight worth seeing!

          Probably some of the best footage as of late is the camera they've mounted on the external fuel tank where its looking back the nose of the shuttle. Watching the launch from that perspective is really cool. Bye bye ground :-)

            My buddy mark used to live in coco and would go check it out. He is the biggest space nerd ever. EVER! If you make fun of the space program Mark will fight you.

              I bet a launch up close is pretty damn cool, even from that distance.

                You actually can't get all too close, 20 miles is really close! Even after the shuttle was 22 miles off the ground, and the thruster detached, I could see it floating in the sky.
