I think the real issue with this thread is the dumbness of the original prompt. Every answer would be, "I'm on my computer/phone posting in this thread." OP wasn't in class so the comment about teachers is at least only offensive to us (I'm certified, too) and didn't occur during a lesson.

Most teachers could have picked a much more financially rewarding profession, but teach because they are passionate about it. Do yourself a favor and take every CAD class and tech class you can get into.
Learn 3d CAD. Go to engineering school when you graduate. Check out some of the cool stuff engineering schools are doing these days. The SAE sponsors some enterprise contests like Mini Baja and Mini Formula where you have to build actual cool stuff.

I'm chill, we're chill. A few of us do things like this quite often. While the rest of the world frowns on hazing and traditional rights of passage, we at R3V feel that it is a important step in the path to a successful, independent life.
