I finished a shit ton of books when I was a kid, but then I got video games, which is like a book I can play.
Also some stories, (witcher 3) outclass a lot of books.
Millenials are they lazy bastards?

#niceguisfinishlast lmaoNo. People in their 20s seem more concerned about looking for their next hook up than finding somebody to marry and start a family with. I think it can be blamed on the fact that fewer girls feel like they will need to depend on a man someday, so more relationships essentially boil down to finding a sex partner until the girl gets bored and moves on to another guy. Families are viewed more as dysfunctional nightmares than loving, supportive social units. And who the hell goes to church any more?
I gotta admit looking back at this thread I am kinda lazy, but to be honest most people are lazy in their own ways. Some of those office folk calling the younger generation lazy are probably slammin drinks at lunch and bullshitting around the office all day.Leave a comment:

Shit. I've only finished two books on my own time since like middle school.Blue collar work can go both ways. Some guys in the field are total bros, but some chock full of guys who have never read a single book that wasn't assigned to them.
I think what it really is, is in our society there is no "rite of passage" anymore. We are kind of indefinitely suspended in childhood/adolescence, just making bigger and bigger paychecks.Leave a comment:

Shit I'd be surprised if some of the people I work/have worked with ever finished a book at all. Doesn't mean they are bad people though.
Everyone has something they are good at. Some people are reliable and will work their asses off with nothing more than a point in the right direction. They aren't concerned with taking the lead or going above and beyond so long as the paycheck keeps coming in. That approach to life is completely fine and compatible with the real world. Not everyone can be a boss or leader, nothing would ever get done.Leave a comment:

If everyone spent a few years in the blue collar industry, it would fix alot of this sensitive self entitled bullshit attitudes.
My coworkers and I talk so much shit every day, but we all have each others backs. There's no room for feelings in my world.Leave a comment:

That's entirely dependent on the parents. Just like a pet, you need to socialize to have social skills.
The comment about not doing anything you could realistically fail at? That statement holds no bearing from either angle. What does one do in public school that you could "realistically fail at."? Also, do you think because someone is homeschooled, that they never experience anything outside the home?Leave a comment:

I'll throw out that I have yet to meet a person who was home schooled who wasn't pretty weird. In fact, I would go as far as to say that those examples have had the traits we often associate with millennials to an even greater extent. Haven't really done anything they could realistically fail at, years and years of a parent building an unrealistically or un-warranted optimistic/positive self opinion and ego, and so on. By no means are any of these folks assholes, but those are the traits that make them "off" socially. Before you all go pulling your kids out of school, I would submit that there are some other less tangible benefits to being in a social learning setting, even if the actual material being taught is lessening in quality these days.Leave a comment:

I'm not interested in either marriage or random hookups. Too much trash to sift through, imo. My career, financial standing and well being are more important than getting a ball and chain or getting my dick wet.No. People in their 20s seem more concerned about looking for their next hook up than finding somebody to marry and start a family with. Ahh yes. Because being in your 20's, right out of college, probably with a decent amount of student debt and a job market that kinda blows, seems like a GREAT time to start a family.No. People in their 20s seem more concerned about looking for their next hook up than finding somebody to marry and start a family with. And who the hell goes to church any more? There have been studies on the generations that suggest the millennials share most of the characteristics of the WWII generation which has been called the greatest generation.
Characteristics like believing in tradional values, right vs wrong, pro USA, believe in the constitution, pro-religion, community oriented, and the first generation since the WWII generation where drug usage has declined.
i'm a boomer. i'm super optimistic about your generation finally getting things back in order. you're starting to get older, have families, realize whatever you get in life is completely up to you and no one else. The next step is political clout that gets rid of, finally, the entitlement class of politicians that have completely screwed things up for everyone,Leave a comment:

Thank you boomer. I'm 19. All my friends are super-conservative pro-constitution, pro-stay at home mom, anti-PC. We're still trying to shake off the political vestiges off our predecessors, but I share your optimism.
Edit: also if you had a link to that study I'd love to read itLeave a comment:
