At least pass the joint you miscreant.
So the show wasn't so bad, looking past the challenges. That's just something we should be use to already. Seems like Joey is a bit uncomfortable with being a host and knowing how to review but still I think a good pick. He was killing it in that Areil! Evans isn't as much of a prick as he seemed before as well haha.
So are they going to let that german lady host the show with them or are they just going to have two "buddies" do all the work?

Lets be real Clarkson, Hammond, and May were Top Gear i mean they did that show for over a decade the older episodes are the best too its a couple of friends truly enjoying themselves. The specials when they went on the adventures like when they built that bridge over the river of Kwai, getting stoned out of Argentina haha those dudes have some awesome stories to tell.
I Think they should of just ended Top Gear on that great note instead of so obviously trying to recreate what it was.88' BMW 325is - Daily

Can we give these guys a chance? They aren't going to get stoned out of a south american country or transverse africa and look like best friends in the first season, and already it's better than top gear america. Is that show still running even?

Sabine needs to join them in studio whenever possible, or at least join them on continental trips. Her possibly intentional butchery of language is completely hilarious, and she brings that irreverent German humor with her, which is something lacking in the other two right now.

It is already better than TGUS as TGUS has turned in to just the same boring "competitions" between the three and some sort of reward car at the end. Boring, although not lacking in production value the way it once was. Biggest peeve with the US version is that after every commercial break you have to endure 60 seconds of replays of things you already saw, as if American viewers are goldfish, and TGUK has never committed that sin. Nor have they just given us a solid stream of the challenge, but have included breaks for other content, which I hope they continue.

As a first episode its not bad.
6.5-7/10 after accounting for realistic expectations.

That's a fair rating, enjoyable, but not polished, with too much contrivance to the segments.
Edit:
Extra Gear wasn't bad either. Didn't realize Sabine borrowed her mother's 316i (possibly/probably an E30 30 years ago) and took it for a lap on the Nordschleife. Bonus points for the extra weird ranch home.Last edited by roguetoaster; 05-30-2016, 04:20 PM.

I caught the new show on BBC America, bout 50 minutes in. Definitely needs some work, but not the worst thing I've ever seen.
The interview segment was pretty bad. Mostly spent it voting on who had the best car, pointless. And Chris Evans is shamelessly emulating Clarkson. I can understand taking some inspiration from JC since he's new at it, but damn.
Matt LeBlanc seems promising. No chemistry whatsoever with Chris though. Seems like they kept the old writers, and I don't think they're helping things. I'm wondering if they actually told Chris to act like Clarkson.
Edit: They should make Extra Gear an hour long and just call that Top Gear.Last edited by rturbo 930; 05-30-2016, 07:52 PM.

I found that the new TG was somewhat entertaining but there was a few moments I was not tuned into the show. There is no chemistry at all between chris and matt. I don't like evens at all. I do like the new track though, good addition. I liked the extra gear as well.
Its their 1st episode so they know that they have some kinks to work out.

Finally watched it.
Chris Evans - WTH? He's a radio guy and he should know better, that was dreadful, stop puking in to the mic on the VO.
They should have just let the show die.. again. The second version of TG was built over time. Go back and watch the first season - it was rough and a little clunky (remember the first co host before James May?) Eventually, they found a rhythm and hit their stride. But also, this was after Clarkson had started to build his persona on the old, old top gear.
If you find the original Top Gear episodes in it's final few seasons before the relaunch on '02, you'll see Jeremy just starting to get that persona working. Everything takes time to get the balance right - and you can't just throw presenters in to an existing show and expect the same results. It won't work.
They really should have just done something else, something new and given these guys a chance to start over. Because no matter how good they are, or even if tomorrow they wake up and sh*t brilliance in the role, there will ALWAYS be comparison to the old crew.1991 325i MT2 Touring (JDM bro)

I havent seen it yet, but from my experience in watching the Daily Show go from John Stewart to Trevor Noah it takes a little time. The biggest thing Trevor Noah did was to change a few elements to make it his show rather than him in Johns show. It made a big difference, hopefully TG will follow suit and allow some changes to the format to make it better suited to the new hosts.Simon
