Yes, it's true. I got my ass kicked at work today by a 8' long 2x6 that fell off of a 15' high roof and knocked my ass out.
I work in a manufactured housing plant, Fuqua Homes, as a quality control inspector. Well, we've just started to build 2-story houses. Basically, 2 halves get set on top of 2 other halves, creating a 2 story house. It's pretty fucking cool. Anyway, as the house gets its walls and roof set and fastened, the top 2 sections of the home have to be pushed either by hand (with like 10 people) or by a forklift to the next area.
Well, I'm helping the guys push the house into the next area, and I hear something slide down the trusses and off the roof. Next thing I know, I'm lying on my back on the concrete, with half of the plant around me, and my boss asking me if I can hear him. I don't remember what happened, but apparently, an 8' long 2x6 that was just sitting up there, fell off of the roof and cleaned my fucking clock. I was also unconcious for about 30 seconds - 1 minute.
So the paramedics came, strapped me all up, secured my head, and hauled me off to the ER. The did a CT scan and all that good stuff, and I'm happy to say that I'm fine. I sprained my neck and I've got a pretty massive headache, but the plus side is I get a prescription of Vicodin on the company, and half of today and probably monday off, with pay. Worker's Comp FTW.
