I got a ticket a few months ago for “Unsafe Lane Change” (CA vehicle code 22107). $238 fine plus traffic school or 1 point on my license. Everyone told me I had no chance and I should just accept it and go to traffic school. I even went as far as signing up for an online school called best online traffic school.
I had just made a right turn onto a 2 lane road at a light. I indicated that I was going to turn into the left lane. And then wham!
Copper siren goes off and I freak out. I couldn't figure out what I had done. After getting ticketed and sermoned by the LEO, I was certain that something seemed off. After doing extensive research, I found out you can only get ticketed if "The road had two or more lanes for traffic in the same direction." Wham! I got them on a technicality, the street going the other way was a single lane and one of the lanes on my side of the road actually becomes a divider lane just ahead. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me.
Fight your ticket guys, the system thinks of us as easy money.
Anyway, the traffic judge agreed with me and has refunded my full bail for the ticket, $248 something. Feels like I won the mega millions!
