Yes, Sled Driver is on my list of some days. The next best thing is Brian Shul's other book The Untouchables. http://www.amazon.com/The-Untouchabl...les+Brian+Shul
Its a fantastic book and I do have it. I keep trying to read it, but I haven't had the time. I'm about 1/4 of the way through it. I have a line on a copy of Sled Driver that I can almost afford, but I haven't had enough extra $ to pull the trigger.
I've been to Gallery One Publishing in Marysville. I was hoping to talk with Mr Shul, but he was doing a function elsewhere. I've met him at the Reno Air Races in 2010. At the time I didn't know who he was, I'll be stopping by his booth in September. His motto on the front of his gallery is "Butterflies to Blackbirds" The photography in "The Untouchables" is very impressive.
This is also a fantastic book that pretty much combines all of the authors other books into one (I have it, and all the other books by the author.) http://www.amazon.com/Lockheed-Black...ref=pd_sim_b_3 The book might as well be the SR71 bible. Its got everything.
Seriously, there needs to be a dedicated SR-71 thread.
Per requirements
I'd be down, but I don't want to be the only person posting to the thread. I've been looking for more recent info on them, but the newest material I've been able to find is from about 2007 or so.
When it comes to triumphs of modern technology, the SR71 is possibly the greatest leap in aviation since the Wright Brothers. Seriously, the Wright Brothers were one small step for man, the A-12/YF12/SR-71 represents a giant leap for man kind. Its a leap that from what I can tell, hasn't been equaled let alone beaten.
I'd be thrilled to find out that by some random chance, other people on the forum were part of the Senior Crown program directly or indirectly. It really was an impressive program that from what I know, hasn't been rivaled.
granted it's likely different in cali, but why the general prius hate? I had to take a roadtrip today, took a prius and got 45mpg mixed instead of the 17/27mpg I get in my m3

I don't think anyone actually hates the car, it's the fucking asshats that drive them. You've seen the South Park episode.
