Drinking does a couple things, first it dehydrates you, second it takes a lot of vitamin c and b out of you along with electrolytes, third it leaves a lot of shit behind.

Theres no way to "cure" a hangover but you can prevent it. Just have to do a couple things, this is what I do.

Fist, before you go out drinking, drink a couple bottles of v8 splash. It has a lot of vitamins in it so the alcohol wont take as much out of you, gatorade is also good for keeping electrolytes balanced.

While your drinking, keep drinking water. Normally I will drink some water while I am drinking but before I goto bed I chug a huge glass of it.

Theres 2 main things in alcohol, ethanol and methanol. Ethanol you can drink, methanol you cant, but its in alcohol just not enough to do any damage. Ethanol is easy to digest, so your body is going to process that first. Methanol is a lot harder to brake up, its the last thing your body tries to digest, this is whats gonna make you puke all over in the morning. The best thing you can do is eat something greasy and absorbant like a burger or something. It will bond to the methanol so your body dosnt try to digest it all at once to make you sick. So fill up before you goto bed.

I do this all the time, and I have never had a hangover if I follow what I said. Normally I drink about 1/2-3/4 a leiter of hard alcohol when im out. And if I dont do what I just said, im puking all over the next day.

Okay, that's a blatant lie. You see, if hangovers weren't curable, then I'd still have one from when I was boozing back in high school.

That's an assinine argument. There's no cure for the common cold either. You dont have a permanent cold though do you? You can treat symptoms, and bring relief quicker, but it takes time for your body to recoup and use it's own defenses against an upset in it's normal status.

Have you ever taken chemistry before?

First of all, although it is beside the point, why would you use "greasy" and "absorbEnt" as synonymous adjectives.
Grease, in the form of animal fat (which are some rather large lipids), is a very non-polar molecule. Hence why it doesn't just wash out of the pan with water (which is polar).
Methyl alcohol, on the other hand, is quite the polar molecule due to the -OH alcohol functional group.
To make a long story short, alcohol and grease don't bond.

Now onto the second portion of your statement...
Once alcohol (ethanol) enters your bloodstream via absorption through the lining of your stomach, it quickly diffuses throughout the bloodstream. You'd don't have a large mass of alcohol floating through your bloodstream that your body is trying to digest.

            Lastly,
Methyl alcohol (or methanol) is extremely poisonous to humans and is not found, in any significant amount, in spirits.

Correct. Methanol can make you blind or even kill you. It would have to be really shitty alcohol to contain even a trace amount of methanol. Moonshine anyone?

Methanol and ethanol aren't totally polar or non-polar, and can both be used as solvents for either polar or non-polar compounds (although not the most effective). Sure you've got the hydroxyl group, but you've also got the rest of the methyl or ethyl. Way OT.

You, you just wake up still drunk :P

I remember drinking until 6:30am at a beach party, falling asleep, then waking up at 7:00 and heading to work.
Just about the crappiest day I've ever had at work. Not drunk, just fucked

                          Weak.

                          Back on topic.

A lot of water seems to work for me. Late night fast food helps too.

Methanol is present in spirits. There's more in whisk(e)y and brandy, less in vodka and gin. We are talking TRACE amounts, but probably enough to get some reaction.

So, food and water. Don't drink until you pass out, otherwise you might wake up with either dried ball sweat on your lips, or dicks drawn on your face.
                            :drink:

one thing that helps quite alot (i've been told the scientific reasons andd it seems to help) are bananas and gatorade

potassium is good for hangovers/headaches/nausea apparently, i actually haven't had a hangover once while attending college

Youre not trying hard enough. Also I hear that the darker alkies, such as whiskey, Bourbon, wine, are proven to intensify the symptoms of hangover the next day. I think they have more of what are called "alkaloids"? Anyone that knows help me out.
