I graduated in May '05 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Currently I work in the automotive industry as a Powertrain Development engineer for a smaller engineering consulting company.

Long term I'd like to get a job at an import OEM (manufacturer) and either get into overall vehicle evaluation/benchmarking, or possibly powertrain R&D. Probably also get back to grad school at some point in time and get a Masters in Mechanical Engineering.

Unfortunately the local job market in Detroit is flooded right now, so getting a job at an import OEM is tough in the near-term. Demand is low and supply is high. And I think companies are assuming that anyone that's currently seeking a job is doing so because he/she believes they're going to be laid off. And who wants to hire someone from the bottom of the barrell?

I'm a foreman/lead of 3 production floor departments at Fuqua Homes. I oversee crews in roof set, roof decking, and composition shingling (about 16 guys). I was in Quality Control for about a year before that, but the spot of foreman was offered to me about 2 months ago with a decent pay increase, and the good chance to become a floor supervisor in a year or so.

Nothing glamorous, but it pays good and I like my job.

If anyone is interested in seeing the types of homes we produce, check out our website.

fuquahomes.com is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, fuquahomes.com has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!

Hi, I'm Branden. I am a college freshmen drop out. :)

I run a car wash / detail service.

I am the manager of H2O Auto Spa at Autec South Headquarters. I am in charge of hiring / firing / scheduling my crew, customer service, help with the mechanical upkeep of our two automatic Autec car wahes, marketing, some accounting, and any other bitch work i can do to keep my place clean and my crew happy. I mean fuck, my crew concists of all my friends who i hired. haha

My detail section is not currently "open", but i have done a few of my loyal customers cars during bussiness hours. Whenever our new expansion is built, i will have my own office and my detail center built around me, so it will be badass.

And so i sit back and watch my general manager, (my best friend) do basicly nothing besides sit on myspace and pick out office furnityre, and get paid double what i do, and he never steps foot out of the office unless he has to drive our 1/2 blind boss around to run errands. And it pisses me off. But i get paid very well so i cant complain. But of course being who i am I would much rather be doing stuff and get recognized and complimented more and more by the owner and my boss for the great job i do of running their bussiness.

I'm a 22 year old Mechanical Engineering student at the University of British Columbia. I'll be finished 3rd year with an exam tomorrow and I expect to graduate in April 2008. I also have two diplomas in Mechanical Engineering from two tech schools but those will be soon eclipsed by the degree.

Plans: work in the energy sector (Hydro, Oil and Gas ect...)

what is that, 6 Mechanical guys including me now that have replied to this thread??

I am finishing up my 2 years at MassBay. I am in the BMW tech program. Right now I work at Herb Chambers in Boston as a tech. I have been there since April 06. Not too sure if I plan to stay in this field or not. I might be applying for another local school to go into the buisness side of the automotive field.

I am also a business owner of a brokerage company. We cater to the local construction business here in Miami. The company is responsible to erect and dismantle the big tower cranes that build the hi-rise buildings that make up the skyline of Miami and the Tri-county area.

I am a computer tech for a restaurant group here in Rochester. I take care of everything that gets plugged into an outlet for the most part lol. POS systems, servers, web servers & site, all the networking, putting up new tills etc etc.

Also I do freelance work for the company that writes the software a lost of businesses use for POS systems, pretty much the same thing I do at work but they pay me to travel to other places to do the same thing, I also make a shit load of money off it easily $100 an hour ;) (but the jobs don't come up too often so its not that great)

And I am going to get a job soon here are either advanced auto parts, mobil 1, discount tire, or this other place.

For the future, I am finishing up my Liberal Arts and doing an auto tech degree and then I have no idea what I am going to end up doing.

I am a graphic designer for a few websites that I also take the role of Webmaster for.

www.lifeinitaly.com is the main site I work with, we are ranked anywhere from 20,000 to 23,000 according to Alexa poll in any given month. I update, fix code, add code, and we just implemented a newer CSS stylesheet to all 13,000 of our pages. We have more daily. We have a forum that I also am the Administrator of. Hence my experience with VBulletin is pretty big (*COUGH MODERATOR COUGH*)

I also have helped create a few more websites on the side of what I do, much like T.J. whom I aspire to, very nice work Teej.

I also work at a Gap store in my hometown on weekends.

I am also a driver for my dads business, he is an independent dealer of any and all cars on the road today, hence my love for cars.

I do much more, but I'll add that later.
