you and tony george make babies.
Superspeedway was great-I have it somewhere on VHS, but I won't watch it anymore as it has too many scenes of the whining, backstabbing yen-whore Michael Andretti.

Fuck Tony George-the destroyer of open wheel racing in the U.S.

You won't do any better than the just released Toshiba HD-XA2 HD-DVD player. It has some of the finest video processing circuitry on the market and is getting rave reviews from buyers. Heck, the first generation HD-DVD players have noticeably better picture quality than any of the available Blu-Ray players and this new second generation does even better. Those Toshiba/RCA players are also about the best player available for upconverting standard definition DVD's.

I have the first generation RCA HDV5000 (a rebadged Toshiba HD-A1) and the Xbox 360 HD-DVD add-on and both provide some of the best picture quality currently available. The only drawback to the Xbox add-on is that it is having issues with the audio, but Microsoft has promised a downloadable fix for that soon. But its benefits are that it is MUCH faster than the standalone players in load times, plus there is no loss in picture quality.

Check out www.avsforum.com for more in depth information on these players.

Nope, you aren't. Now I don't have anything up to date in the tube area, but one of my most cherished possessions is a Dynaco Stereo 70 amplifer that my Dad built from a kit back around 1967 or so. As you already know, this is probably the most popular tube amplifier of all time and still today is highly sought after. I still occasionally fire it up and have a listen, but not as often as I would like.

It's no longer stock, as I replaced the 7199 tubed driver board about 14 years ago with an aftermarket board with newer driver tubes (6GH8 maybe?) and some other parts in the power supply. Still working perfectly after all of these years and I will never sell it.

Tube gear is where its fucking at. The Dyanco must be sweet. I am pretty happy with my modern day Jolida, but plan on converting it to a 6L6 or a 6V6. All my guitar gear is tube, and just wrapped up doing some mods on that stuff.

I have never owned any tube equipment myself but I can truly appreciate the sound. I have helped set up several 2 channel rooms in the past.

Yea, its worth at least having a 2 channel tube setup for music. Look into the Jolida, very great quality, great prices!

Althought someday I will own a few famed McIntosh mono-blocks!

                        Alrighty, here we go:

                        Sony STR-DE898 Receiver
                        Philips 24" Flatscreen TV

                        Nintendo GameCube

                        Pictures:

                        230W 10" Sub

                        Front Speakers:

110W two 5" mids with one 1" tweeter

Center, same as fronts, only sideways. Also, the location free player:

Rear Speakers, 110W 3.125 mid with one 3/4" tweeter

What I just got done doing tonight, organizing cables:

Nothing too amazing, but it works for me. I’d like to upgrade the VCR to a Panasonic AG-1980 as the one I have is a cheapy.

For those who don’t know, the location free player allows me to stream both cable television and my DVD player to either a laptop or my PSP. I can also control both my DVD player and change channels on the cable. All I need is a wireless internet connection. :)

I also have my computer hooked up via S-Video and coaxial digital audio. This allows me to watch videos on my TV with full surround sound and play all my MP3’s through the system also. Works great.

Well it's a good thing this thread came up.

I got my girlfriend a sound system before I did for me. I practiced on hers.

I got her this setup - nothing special; but it's nice.

                              24" Sony Trinitron flatscreen TV

Pioneer XV-HTD 520 5.1 Surround Sound built in DVD player/receiver. DTS, built in amplifier, Advanced theater and DSP modes...

Its a home theater in a box, but a very clear sounding one at that. Very good for a boxed setup. I don't have many plans to upgrade anytime soon, but it is very nice for my needs, and it was only $270 when I purchased it, instead of the list price of $500. Does not have component video outputs though...
                              Reminiscing...

That's what I'm looking to buy when my salary catches up to my wants.

And I would love a tube setup, but the investment money isn't there. I envy you though, that's for sure.
