Now that calling it as I see it, I have several friend that have very expensive degrees and 2 deliver piazza an 1 makes subs 6 days a week because they were laid off and cant find a job. So I guess this is your booming service industry?
WTF inflation slowing down, take a 100 bucks to the store an see how far you get with that? Now compare to just 3 years ago. I know I haven't seen a real raise in 4 years, it all goes to cover my rate hikes in my dwindling health care.
CEO's making 100 times that of their rank an file workers in a year, when just 10 years ago it was only like 10 times that.
There has not been this big of a rift in wealth distrbution since the great depression
Our booming finance industry huh, the normal american family has 10k in CC debt, SO what, thats a good thing? These people need to used the CC just to make ends meet because they (fuck it we) have not seen anything that equates to a real raise in income in years to off set these massive increases in daily life things things like food, drugs (fuck we have old people get on a bus an go to canada to get the Rx because its that much cheaper an W made it illegal WTF ,that law was repealed) fuel, housing, education, you name it.
I made 2k more this year than I did in 03 (slightly more OT) my fixed bills are 100 a month less than 03 and I was only able to put half in savings this year Vs 03. I have cut my life style back a bit I dont eat out as much as I use to, I dont make extra trips to town just because I want something I can wait till later for.
To the bulk of you above I assume you have family that is making a shit ton on our booming econmy HUH. It nice to see the way you treat you fellow americans taht are less fortunate than you. I know it sounds marxist but I tend to see the need of the general population far out weigh that of the wealthiest .1% call me crazy if you want, but remember this do unto to others as you would have do unto to you. Karma's a bitch an only thinking of ones self an not the greater good of this country will only lead to its down fall .

if you mean "meeting their needs" as in a big screen plasma TV, an extra SUV for the kids, eating out all the time, and going "shopping" for more worthless shit, then yeah I can see how people go 10k in debt.
middle america is so well off they have no idea. how many luxuries does the average american family enjoy? now go to some of the countries in the eastern bloc and tell me how poor everyone here is. don't forget we've seen the largest increase in wealth in a century thanks to the recent housing boom, too bad the average joe spent all of it on junk and now they are bitching because there's no more money left for them to blow and they've already taken out 2nd and 3rd mortgages to finance their lavish spending habits.

I happen to be one of those people who work for a living, I have always worked for everything I have ever gotten thats something 95% of people my age are unwilling to do.
