    i've gotten a 5% raise every year the last 5 years .
My 401K is doing great . What's not to like .
America is the greatest place on earth. If you don't like your job or pay get off your ass and find something different . Stop waiting for the goverment to spoon feed ya.
Liberals make me want to puke , they expect the goverment to do everything for them . Socialism

    Back on topic .... Hillary
I'd do her if Bill would watch ...............

Is it a sign you have been on R3v long enough when you realize it's worthless to participate in political discussions? Same for religion, now that I think of it.

It's fun to see the young pie-eyed left wingers duke it out with the seasoned, and generally more worldly-realistic right. Sorry lefties, but it seems to be that you turn to the right the more you experience and amass in life. I bet a lot of current righties were involved in the Haight-Ashbury scene, at least it wouldn't surprise me.

Dig up FDR - he'll whip this country into shape!

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

More experience and living generally = more money.

Wow, what an amazing concept considering we live with capatalism.

Stupid dems, wake up and smell the coffee, or pelosi puss.

Money is the problem with modern society. People need to realize that no matter how much money they have, it's not gonna make them any happier. Neither liberals nor conservatives can grasp that concept.

consistent ecnonomic growth for the last 6 years, the lowest unemployment rates in decades (and a TIGHTENING labor market, with the coming retirement of 50 million baby boomers looming in the next decade, who all need replaced), ramping expansion in B2B and infrastructure, booming tech industry, a huge housing boom that only recently cooled off (and with the exception of a few speculators who lost their shorts, still climbing at "normal" rates), huge expansion in the services and contracting industries. inflation is pretty much dead; the fed will soon begin to loosen it's grip and lower interest rates (if you have any idea what that means?).

oh yeah, the stock market is at an all time high!

manufacturing will continue to decline in the USA as american workers decide they don't like standing in one place for 10 hours a day pressing the same button over and over again, while our serivices industry continues to grow and our finance industry continues to supply capital for 75% of the world's business.

but you are pissed because you can't get by with an 8th grade education and a job at a factory where you are bored out of your mind and your back hurts like hell as you slave for a paycheck you will have already spent before you even get it.. have fun working manual labor until you are 75..

oh yeah and if you are still working for minimum wage after being in the job market for 10 years you are a worthless sack of shit who doesn't deserve a raise. seriously, unless you are working your first job or are a complete moron you probably make much more than minimum wage..

                            X

Usually I recuse myself from these threads but this time I just can't sit it out anymore (been days since I lurked in this one)

I did not make minimum wage when I was 15 and it was 1.50. I still got 2.00 because I was able to communicate my worth and the grocery store manager could see I would be an asset in the burgoining world of shelf stocking (got regular raises and ended up at 12.00 an hour as a checker.)

The economy is doing very well and even the staunch Bush hater cannot say otherwise.

Actually that statement is really ignorant. Conservatism and liberalism aren't permanent sets of ideals, they change all the time. What was considered liberal 50 years ago, may be considered conservative now.

blunt was quoting what I typed.

Wow, changing 'norms' over the decades - there's a ground-breaking concept.

Well then, that aside how about this? - When you're young and poor, you see nothing better than a utopian society where we all have wonderful health care without any co-pays and private school pedigree educations for all, and that "we" should all $upport it.
As you get older and have amassed some wealth, you don't mind spending your own money on your child's education, or health care - but you sure ain't too keen on $upporting Jane Welfare's kids' health or education, now are you?
You'de rather her crack babies go play in a busy highway, then all you have to worry about is covering the cost of your own kids, and the wife who can't quit landing the front of her car on parking curbs, thereby causing a near revolving line of credit at the local paint shop.

That's a timeless concept and basic reality.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.
