    Paintball

    Hey guys,
I don't know if any of you paintball but if so I was wondering what you think I could get for the kit I want to sell.

I have had this for about 2 1/2 years and seriously have used it 3 times and all 3 times have been me and my other buddy and his brother in my moms back yard. So not many miles on it.

    The kit would include:

    1) Tippman Model 98 Custom w/ vertical air delivery (chrome piece) and red/chrome drop forward, double trigger
    2) OEM barrel
    3) 16" Teardrop barrel
    4) Barrel Cleaner
    5) 9 oz CO2 tank w/ shoulder butt
    6) 20 oz CO2 tank
    7) OEM instructions/allen wrenches
    8) Neck protector
    9) 4x1 paint holder w/ compressed air pocket on the back
    10) 5 paintball canisters
    11) 7 new O-rings

The gun retails for around $150-$200. The other accesories, just for the gun, cost well over $300, and the teardrop was another $150.

I was thinking about putting it up for $400 obo on the local craiglist. I don't want this thing anymore and with $400 could get all the suspension done on my car. It has been sitting around and I could do better things with my money.

I got it for christmas a while back and thought I would get into it because all of my friends were. Never happened and I want to put some of the money toward a new Glock .45 G.A.P if I have enough after the suspension.

    Thanks

    2 things:

Sorry, but Tippys are dirt cheap now. I got a used gun kit identical to yours for $100 last spring. You never get your money out of aftermarket barrels. There is a rack of used, perfect barrels at the local shop for $15-$40. If you had a Custom Pro with response trigger it would still be a hard sell at $250. New Tip A5's are even getting affordable. Sorry to rain on your parade, but I see your setup on fleabay go for $125-ish all the time. I assume you are E-trigger, not response- if so, and you get $150 - take it. I wouldn't even offer that much.

Glocks. If you haven't shot one, do so before you buy. A lot of people buy Glock on name recognition, but I personally I hate the things. Sharp recoil that transmits clear through your wrist. Forget 2nd shot being even close if you try squeezing off a couple quick.
If you can't shoot before you buy, forget it. The day you shoot one you will be glad you passed. For a little less look at the affordable Springfield Armory line. If you got a grand, Kimber has some sweet .45's that are getting harder to find. Impact in Utah has a few still. Just pay a FFL fee and you'll still save $$$.

It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

Thanks for the advice. Yea, I have shot a glock and I liked it. My favorite shot, thus far, was the HK .40 but that is alittle more expensive than I want to spend on my first gun.

I put it on for $300, to take a chance at it, craigslist is free so its really not that big of a deal if I have to sit on the thing because I have been doing it for a long time anyway. I hope to atleast get $220 for it so I can get H&R's.

Glocks are great in the fact that they run no matter what. As a first pistol or a SHTF pistol Glocks are hard to beat. Stay away from SA, I feel they are just a bit of a cheap knock off of the Glock and not worth the money. Kimbers are nice but heavy and shoot 45's. Ammo is more and the gun is more. If your looking for a nice used one check AR15.com. Its the best gun forum I have ever found. Everything is there. But you would have to find a local FFL to do a transfer and that could run you about $25 or so. I would stick with a NATO round like the 9mm or the 45, many go the way of the 40 but if you plan on just punching paper 9mm is the way to go. Due to the war ammo prices have sored and in some calibers are hard to find. 9mm is everywhere and for the most part has good stopping power. The glock 17 can hold up to 20 rounds where the Kimbers top out at 12. For me Id take the 20 rounds. The glock 19 is a compact of the 17 and is what I carry on the daily. What ever you do do not buy a sub compact. They are to small and is hard to control when firing. Just go to the range and see if you can rent several guns. Just find one that fits your shooting style and feel. Its all about what feels good, dont buy one for the name.

I have rented around 12 guns and my favorite was the HK .40, although I haven't looked it up, the guy at the range said that the HK's are a lot of money. I have shot a glock .40 subcompact, was too small, so I then shot a .45 compact and it was a lot better.

I shot, I think, a kimber 9mm. That was a good gun to shot. It was fun to shot and the ammo, as you said, was cheaper than the others. The 9mm would be nice to just shot at a range but have I have talked to police officers, thinking about going into the academy this summer, and they definately recommended their S/W .40 MP or another .40 or .45.

They didn't like the 9mm because he said he had to shot someone about 4 times for them to go down. He upgraded to the S/W .40 MP and laughed and said, it only takes once now. He was a pretty cool guy, filling out my bro's hit and run report and talking about guns.

Despite disagreeing on personal favorites gun wise, I think Vdubin and I can at least agree that .45 auto is really the only round worth dealing with. Cabela's has some good deals on ammo if you are a smart shopper and can use their rebate cards when buying bulk.
For the record, my fav .45 is my Colt full frame 1911 with Packmayrs. Weighs a ton, but fires like a Caddilac. Hardly any barrel rise from recoil. I have a SS Commander too, but it rarely sees use like my fullsize. I love that thing. I guess if you're worried about round capacity, 10 rounds is all you can stuff in an extended clip. You could leave one in the chamber, but I don't.

If you shot Glocks, cool. At least you know what you're getting then.

Well my favorite was the HK but it is too expensive for me right now. I want something that will be mostly recreational shooting but will be a good carry/conceal and will stop someone. I know all guns will do this but some faster.

My bros g/f's grandpa gave him his military issued 1903 .38 colt. We were going to shot that but were told by a collector we shouldn't.

It looks like this but it doesn't have the white grip, its solid black.

ehh...well that sucks. Thanks for kicking me in the balls. haha thanks for the help.

I also think I got raped with the double trigger, the drop forward, and the air delivery. I was in 10 grade and didn't want to ruin my gun so I had them put it in. They charged me about 300 because they installed it. Stupid kids

yeah, just remember cops have to shoot what they are issued. The police make deals with the manufacture and they are only allowed to carry what guns give them the best deals. Most people will tell you bigger is better but if you cant shoot strait then whats the point. The one hobby that I like better than cars is guns and I shoot every week. About 15 to 20k rounds a year. My collection is about 30 strong. Find a shooting school and take as many lessons as you can or can afford. Its a lot of fun and you will understand that bigger is not always better.

Your HK that you talk of is about $800 new and about $600 used (if you look) for me I do not like the HK over other guns. But there are snobs that are band happy. You have the 1911 people then you have the glock people. Everyone has their opinion on whats better. Again rent and find whats best for you. Also remember dont settle for a gun because of cost. Guns are tools and that tool could mean life or death. I would hate to see someone die because they opted for a lesser model over cost. Guns are not cheap!

My Glocks are the work horse for me. My 1911's are just fine examples of a true hand gun. But in a war I would grab my Glock over my 1911 any day. Also handguns are meant to be used to get back to your rifle or to be concealed for carry. But what ever you get shoot it and shoot it often. It took me about 2000 rounds before I got the feel of my Glock and now I would bet my life on it.

Remember placement is everything. Even 1 shot from a 22cal will kill you or me!

                      Good luck!

My vote too, but I think I made that pretty clear already.

Even though I have 2 already, I keep looking at these:

in this order HK - Kimber - SIG - then maybe a glock.

Me I would save up a bit longer an get the HK .40 if thats what you like the best.

The Armory's index page for H&K Heckler and Kock USP pistols (including Tactical and Compact models) and carbines in 9mm, .40, and .45 and magazines.

check them out full size .40 usp is $640 plus the overnight shipping.
