State to State. WA all you have to do is a background check and get a Sheriff's office signoff on it.
I hear New York and Cali dang near take an act of Congress.
I'm in NH, so it shouldn't be too bad... Live Free and Shoot the Living Fuck Outta Anything That Moves. :D I mean it says it right on our license plates.
Holy freakin crap, screw that, I'll just leave my damn guns home if I have to go to Boston. They basically want your life savings, a DNA sample, and your first-born if you don't live there...
He said he liked the H&K much better. Superiority aside it is a matter of personal preference. I personally hate the glock trigger, I hate the grip position. I have never been comfortable with a glock in my hand. Glocks bore me, everyone has a glock. It's like the honda of firearms. I give them credit for reliability but my SIG has never misfired or jammed with thousands of rounds through it.
I feel much more prepared to go against bad guys with my SIG at my side.
If he says he likes the H&K better, why encourage him to buy a glock?
As far as stripping goes, IMO my SIG p239 is much easier to take down than a Glock.
If you'll look back I suggested HE decide what to purchase based on his OWN research. I'm not at all encouraging him to buy a Glock, rather giving him my opinion as well.
I just don't understand why people in general it seems, especially those with little experience on the subject, tend to down the Glocks. I would imagine it has to do with their rather ungainly appearance compared to some of the metal framed guns out there and in the aesthetics category, I have to admit they are not the most attractive of handguns. In that same sense, they appeal to me greatly. They are all business there and that's more than fine with me. I don't want a showpiece to shoot when my life is on the line.
You may be right on the grip position in relation to your personal issues with the Glock but I doubt it is related soley to the recoil. Of course the recoil of any handgun might aggravate a pre-existing condition such as you have secondary to your past injuries. Again, that is why it's important to go out and shoot guns yourself and not just rely on the experience of others. I personally found the Glock to fit my hand more comfortably than the Sig P220 that I shot before I purchased my first one. So it is a very subjective thing here.
No hard feelings here guys, just a healthy discussion. :)
In my limited experience I've found Glock's grips to more angled than say a Sig 228 (the only sig I have experience with) or a USP. I'm not sure there is a real huge difference but I noticed enough that I could see where the Glock might aggrevate a previous injury. Technically, the USP and 228 should be more erganomic but who knows...
Sorry to add another question to everything, but say I wanted something small for plinking in the back yard, say a 22lr, what do you guys like? I've had some very limited experience with the Walther P22 which I loved but I was wondering if there were better options?

I have the walther and it isnt that great. It is picky as far as ammo goes and it is not accurate at all.
The Ruger mark III is one of the best .22's around.

Funny, I seem to find people around here put Glocks on a pedestal. Granted, if they fit you, I see no drawback - totally a solid gun, and I've never heard anyone complain theirs jammed, build quality is there for sure. It ain't a Taurus, that's for sure. Back when I got my 1st .45, tons of people were telling me I needed a Glock. Never got the chance to fire one though. I shot a few rentals at the local range, and really liked a 10mm they had - fairly sure it was a Colt.
As luck would have it, the day I went to our local shop there was a big discount on Colt made 1911's. I got mine for $385 with a set of Pacmayrs. The next week I got to take it home.
I had been shooting alone for a few years before the snowboard job, and then a few of us would go to the range together on our days off. From the 1st day I fired that Glock it hurt. But that's my only negative to the guns at all, otherwise they seem great.
No hard feelings here either, sorry if I came off a bit negative of G's - didn't by any means try to down on the quality of them.
I got more hurt feelin's nobody said nothin about my 10 - scope alone was more than most my handguns, and any of my shotguns.
It's not how you handle the good times, but the faith you keep in the bad that defines you.

Agreed on the Ruger, but I believe you meant Mark II. I had a Govt. Target model and it was awesome. I definitely want to get another one day, great little gun.
No there is a Mk 3 and they are really nice guns. One of the only 22cal guns that I would own. For just over $1k you can have one of these. With sub sonic ammo there is no noise at all. All you hear is the action of the gun. I have a friend that has one and we shoot phone books in the house when its raining!

That is a internally suppressed Mk3. It is a NFA item and requires a $200 tax stamp and a sign off. There are other ways of getting it if you live in a Nazi county. If you would like to know I can point you in that direction. Its been around for some time. I do not know how long though but many years.
My friends are class 3 guns manufactures, which gives them the right to manufacture full auto and silenced weapons. I cant afford the ones I want. (M16 full auto about $12,000usd) I just get to play with theirs! Nothing puts a smile on ones face like pulling the trigger on a full auto weapon!
But the stock barrel looks the same at the one pictured. They can be had for around 350 or so. Well worth the money. Any other 22cal pistol is sub to the Ruger.
Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs!
