Well, you are right, different cultures (and species) will find different tastes, smells, etc. appealing or disgusting based upon their experience.

Keep in mind that in Ecuador people eat mice and monkeys, in Spain and France snails, and that to some people the smell of a barbacued steak is disgusting.
