    Have you ever stolen anything?

Have you ever stolen anything before? I trust that we all have at one point or another but what was the craftiest stunt that you ever pulled off without getting caught or almost getting caught? Also, have you ever been caught shoplifting? Were you a kid or was this something that you did earlier in your adulthood?

There have been a few instances where I got away with price tag swapping as a teenager until I got nailed for sticking a 49 cent price tag on a $12 toy. (and this was before UPC barcodes were used in retail stores) When I got busted, they thretened that if I was ever in the store alone again, they would prosecute me.

And then later in life I would put more expensive items into cheaper priced boxes.. and got away with it for a while until I attempted it at my job in the retail store where I worked. I worked in a store that took employee theft very seriously.. to the point where you would get fired AND they would call the cops and have you put in jail. I guess it would stand the reason why a manager would have to supervise all employee transactions. So one day I decided to "smuggle" a couple of $50 nintendo games into the boxes of Atari 2600 cartridges that were on the $3.99 clearance table. The manager that supervised the transaction was somewhat of a "tech-head" and he knew that I was also, so he inquired as to why I was buying these cartridges. Stupidly, I said, "Well, I had planned on cracking the cartridges open to see if I can flash the rom chip inside of it to program it with something else." and he was like, "COOL! Lets see what these cartridges look like!" as he started to open the box.. long story short I was able to talk my way out of it and convince him that I really didn't want to deal with that right now.. even though I was close to crapping in my pants! :-P Anyhow, after that incident I was "scared straight" at least for a little while.

...actually I've never stolen anything, nor have I been inclined to.

I've 'borrowed' things, and returned them, but never from a retail establishment.
There are some good stories there, one involving a motorcoach... ;)

Other then the 1800+ MP3's and several computer programs, I haven't stolen a thing in my life.

              a 60 pack of diapers.
              4 pounds of meat.
a pack of 12 1 liter milk cartons.
              1 computer.

These out of plain luck, the 60 pack of diapers never got ticked at the supermarket, I noticed when I was checking the bill while putting things in the trunk, (I plead guilty because I did not return to tell).

The 4 pounds of meat were under a supermarket catalogue one of the attendants dropped in the cart, I noticed before leaving the supermarket, and again did not say anything. guilty!

That big pack of milk, i put under the cart and completely forgot about it, until I was putting the bags into the cart again after the registrar, I shut up again.

The last one is a computer i bought with my visa, the charge never showed up, this was about six months ago. Of course, I never went to the bank to complain.

So i'm guilty of three robberies and a credit card fraud. :D

My friends and I used to steal hondas and chop them up. We'd sell the parts and motors for next to nothing and eat dinner. They only did it for the thrill and would buy drugs with the money. I was 15 and stupid, and didn't even make much money out of the whole ordeal.

I stopped when my friends were caught one night and were put in juvy.

                              story time...

In vo-tech (last year of high school), the school offered us a complete set of Microsoft books. They overstocked on them and weren't going to use them next year, so they gave them to us for $15. I bought 2 sets.

Barnes and Nobles sells this set, so I took one set and I went in and told the clerk they were bought as a gift and I'd like to return them, but I wasn't given a receipt. They gave me a store credit card and put $398 on it.

I listed this on ebay for $380 (which I would have gotten) until the school called me and several other people into a room one day. Three administrators began screaming at us and telling us we were getting expelled, B&N was pressing charges and we would have felonies, etc... turns out several people did it, and one guy was wearing a vo-tech shirt when he did it, so they called the school to see whats up.

Nothing happened, we just had to return the cards, deal with the principle, blah blah blah. They told us we would never feel right walking into that store again. Ha, I go in like once a month.

I also sold the other set to my college, DeVry University, a year later (they buy used books) for $200.
