If you're trying to keep the kids hands off while you're not around then you need a safe or at least one of those Stack-on gun cabinets. There are too many videos floating around of kids easily defeating those electronic lock boxes. If you are trying to keep it secure while you're sleeping, that's a bit more complicated as I mentioned earlier. Whatever you end up doing, make sure you consider all aspects but IMO it's better to err on the side of too cautious. What is more likely? A kiddo coming into the room in the early morning hours while you're still asleep and rooting around looking for stuff he/she knows he/she isn't supposed to have or a violent intruder sneaking into your bedroom? Personally I have my fullsize M&P 9 in a small fingerprint lock box at night and during the day it goes into the real safe, it's more work but I know I couldn't live with myself if something happened because of my own negligence.

The Gun Box has fingerprint and RFID bracelet in the works, but Hornady RaPiD has the RFID bracelet now. Read biometric isn't always as reliable as desired and just wear bracelet to bed and watch over it closely, and lock for real during day.

That is sweet and the price is very competitive compared to the other biometric options out there. I might consider upgrading...

Gonna have to pick one of those up soon. For now I think the GunVault will work. I wasn't able to find any examples of that specific model popping open on it's own, just other "real" safes with the plastic knobs to activate the bolts.

Picked up my Glock 23 today and an Uncle Mike's IWB holster. I have to say, for $15 the holster is the most comfortable IWB I've ever worn, I was really surprised.

As far as when I'm not around goes, that won't happen as it's my carry piece so I'll always have it.

"Real" safes don't have plastic knobs that activate bolts. ;) Sounds like you figured out a decent solution, commendations for kid safety. Too many asshat gun owners don't seem to care.

On an unrelated note. I just got an email from Cabela's advising me that my 14 month backorder of .22lr finally came in! Just in time to go break in my little Henry lever gun.

Fair enough lol. I saw a few videos of those unlocking just by lightly dropping them on the floor, fuck that noise. The GunVault gets a lot of good reviews, biggest issue I've seen was the cable that operates the release breaks, but they seem to have fixed that in newer models. Also they use tubular locks which are stupid easy to pick, but actual security of the firearm isn't my concern since I'll be sleeping right next to the thing.

They're my girlfriend's kids, but I'd never forgive myself if they managed to hurt themselves. I have to be especially cautious because I always leave one in the hole. For now it's sitting on the top shelf of my closet, but I got same day on the GunVault so it should be here in a couple of hours.

Also, since you're local, I want to recommend the shit out of Shooter's World. Super professional, and they threw in two hours of range time and a t-shirt with my gun.

You would be suprised how many "safe" boxes open up by dropping them on concrete. I have done it a few times just to see for myself, was hilarious.

I've been to Shooter's World a few times, nice guys but it's really pretty far from me. If I'm going to buy locally, I usually check out the Gun Depot (small, but generally have fair prices) or Pistol Parlour. Lately I've been making my purchases online and having them shipped to an FFL, I've gotten WAY better prices than any brick and mortar can do. Sucks for them, but such is life.

I couldn't find the Glock I bought for any less than $499 new, which is what I paid in the store. I may have gotten to pay lower taxes if I bought from an out of state vendor, but I don't like waiting for stuff lol

Also: GunVault came. This thing is pretty beefy. The buttons could be a little more sensitive, but I'm getting pretty fast at opening it!
