Yeah 9mm. The way the laws work here is you have to have a membership with a pistol club for 6 months and complete 3 shoots with them in that period. You also have to complete a safety course. Once all that is done you apply for a license and you have a 28 day waiting period before they look at the application. Then once you have got your license you have a 28 day wait period when you put your first PTA (permit to acquire) in. Then for the first 12 months of your license you can only have under .38 and you can only get 1.
Pretty shit compared to US's laws.

You are and you aren't. To get over .38 you need to get a permit to hold a D class H weapon (D = semi auto rifles/ pump action shotguns etc. H is handgun). Then you need to have a good reason for the PTA. But people do get them, i have a mate I shoot with that has a S & W Performance .44 but he waited about 2.5 years by the time the PTA was accepted and it was shipped here.

back in '08 during the early part of the Great Recession a co-worker of mine found work in Australia through another co-worker's cousin. he spent time near Canberra, working as a land surveyor.
the chief instrument we surveyors use is a combination of angle measurement and distance measurement, officially called a total station. becuase it "shoots" distances it is commonly called a "gun" in America.
when my co-worker (Steve) asked his Aussie boss 'do you want me to set up the gun here?' the Aussie gave him a blank look, WTF?
Steve said "the instrument. do you want it set up over that point?"
the Aussie said "you Americans and your guns."Last edited by 2761377; 02-11-2014, 06:46 PM.

Yeah, firearms are serious business over here. Pretty much once you have a gun you have to be super careful because any sort of assault charge, verbal abuse, drug use, pretty much any decent arrest. They will take your firearms and your license and all you get back is to watch them drive away.
Comparing with my mates Glock 34 with ported barrel.

Awesome. It's funny, because with all of these people fearing a gun grab, the laws continually turn in our favor. Well, besides NY and MD... and a few others. No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.

I like this quote form the dissenting pinion
" Judge Sidney R. Thomas wrote that in addition to striking down San Diego County’s concealed-carry policy, the majority ruling “upends the entire California firearm regulatory scheme.”"
