I hate to say it, but I am strongly considering it.....

Does anyone know the fully dressed weight of the Euro S50 (w/ trans)... DON'T SAY GOOGLE IT..... CAUSE I HAVE!!!

I have found mixed numbers.... some of which are considerably less than the LS1, and some which in fact are quite close....

      +1

I'm still thinking of dropping the 502 my boss has in my IX.

Unless it's a rare bird, do it.

I am almost positive that an ls1 is lighter than an s50.

I bet the Ls1 would be damn close to the m20s weight. This is a swap that I am considering doing in about 3 years (but I have a shitload of thing I plan on doing in 3 years that are never going to happen). The Ls1 will easily get you a naturally aspirated 400hp at the wheels with a little work, I cant think of any other way to do that without boost.

            you should have:

1.) bought the e28 M5 that was forsale in the classifieds for like $4500.
            2.) rebuilt the s38
3.) turbo'd the living fuck out of it.
4.) parted the chassis, and be done with it.

I sincerely hope you are joking about the M5, was there one really for sale? Who bought it?

I'd do that swap in a heartbeat.....

I think the LS1 weighed in at 509lbs with all the accessories, clutch and transmission.

The Bimmeroforums AQ says the m20 weighs 289lbs... that is probably long block, so add some for the transmission then some more for the accessories...

what who gives a flying fuck! The ls1 has more torque at idle than Ericks turbo m20 has at peak!!!!!!!!!

You could put cender blocks under the hood, in the trunk and haul three of your fattest friends and you will be faster than any other e30 around, or m3 for that matter.
