I actually have a job that pays (relatively) well, so no extra income required. Then again, my job puts me in a different country than my car, so moot point I guess.
You wouldn't believe the number of people that live off of buying newer wrecked cars and fixing them. Buy 1 car wrecked in the front, 1 car wrecked in the back. Combine them, and sell it to make 5x profit. you also wouldn't believe the amount of people buying these cars without checking the history. It's simple enough to get around r-titles by transferring to friends in certain other states then back again.
Sleazy, not to mention illegal. It is also a lot of other things that come under the headings of ethics, morality, etc. The bigger consideration is that puts a lot of unsafe vehicles on the road. Cars that have been "clipped" improperly, etc. If someone is going to cheat on the car, they will also cheat on the repair.
