I have picked up a few, pretty much always when i have a buddy in the car. I have done it a few times but in towns that i know. I skated around today for about an hour and found myself very downhill from my house. I stuck my thumb up for less than a min but my mom drove by and picked me up so that doesnt count. Its a good way to get around.

Yes, I sometimes take hitchhikers, if they are located in a safe location for me to stop. I'll also stop only if they inspire me confidence. If one day my car breaks down on the side of the road, hopefully I will be returned the favor.

30 years ago, it was normal to hitchkike. Not anymore.
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

I think its maybe different where I live, here in Rochester crime is low. Nothing ever happens ever. I can't think of one place in town it would be sketchy to walk around at in the early morning, maybe even with a wad of cash I doubt much would happen. Most of anything that goes on people ask for.

I would if they were legit. I sometimes consider it when i see people walking but am always in a hurry. People don't even try around here. It's not an option.

I usually pick up ski bums on my way up to the mountain, they are harmelss; usually just looking to do the same thing I plan on...tearing up the slopes. I will pick up people that look respectable, or if I'm with someone in the car I will lower my standards a bit. I've hitched home after a few nights of drinking late when the MAX stopped running and I was stuck downtown and too cheap to get a cab...so yeah I try to give back a little.

The more professional hookers never do. Many of them represent themselves as a massage therapist or a cleaning lady or an independant consultant.. Which once someone referred me to a cleaning lady and I hired her because I really needed my house cleaned. She was really a prostitute but it didn't occur to me immediately. All I knew at the time was that she was charging very high rates and doing half-ass work. So the john that picked up your friend probably thought he was picking up a real whore who disguised herself as a stranded pedestrian.

You should have asked her to polish your bannister.
