 It's not that only hatches are allowed. It's that sedans haven't been competitive for a LONG time.
 
 Since WRC cars use intake restrictors, they're artificially limited to somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 hp (though they generally make around 400 lbs/foot of torque over a wide rpm range with practically no lag). Since power is on the low side, the trick is to keep the engine "on the boil" and the car flowing from corner to corner.
 
 Manufacturers have found that short-wheelbase cars do a better job of conserving momentum on modern WRC stages (which have been getting twistier and slower compared to the old days). Small hatche srotate easier at corner entry, which means they don't need to brake as much. So, they have been dominating modern WRC.

 to me it looks like they stole the basic design of the lights from a mazda 3. Then they added the outline of a evo hood with the regular subi hood scoop. Then in the back it just looks too much like that new kia that came out...
 
 And i still think the 2002 generation looks the bestComment
