I noticed it's a completely different set of muscles you utilize for crank-braking on a fixie.

I borrowed my friends GoPro and did a quick video of our little mountain in Phx..
I knew this would get some of my friends wanting to try out riding! :p
This video covers a 6.7mi 1215ft decent.
Couple of firsts..
Clipped pedal @ 4:14
Brake lock @ 9:32
My favorite corner of all is @ 12:12! :D

New progress:
So far:
XT m735 Front mech
XT m735 Shortcage rear mech
XT m735 Pedals
XT m735 Thumbies
XT m730 Cranks
NOS DiaCompe 987's w/ DiaCompe SS5 levers, Ritchey pads
Velo seat(still heavy)
Tune titanium QR's(ac9 & ac16/17)
Middleburn 36t/26t chainrings(26t added after pics were taken)
And it now wears a slightly older set of Smart Sam's, the blackwalls make the bike look BAD-ass)
Crank Brothers Iodine lock-on grips are temporary. Looking for a good set of ODI Attacks, or maybe a new set of Ritchey True Grips, rubber not foam).-03/2005 E46 330D Touring 6spd(204hp/410nM) Sapphire Black/Naturbraun Sport...300k KM & 35mpg(mixed)Comment

I rode your little mountain on a rented mountain bike awhile ago. Broke a chain right as I was starting the descent, then got a flat, then ran out of water on a 110+ degree day. Being used to the midwest, I really didn't prepare well... Looks like fun if you aren't riding a POS though haha.

I can't see riding on old tires or destroying an expensive set of NOS Panaracer's so modern tires are a must. And they're lighter. I'm thinking Schwalbe Racing Ralph EVO's...if I can find them in 1.9/2.0. Anything wider won't look right on this frame. I would however run a set of Tioga Psycho-K's on it.....had them on my 93 Trek 7000 bitd and had no complaints.
Thanks. I have a set of the original ribbed Ritchey TrueGrips & ODI attacks on the way. And a NOS Mavic 121 Ceramic/XT m732 wheelset on the way....just need proper pads for the ceramic wheels-03/2005 E46 330D Touring 6spd(204hp/410nM) Sapphire Black/Naturbraun Sport...300k KM & 35mpg(mixed)Comment
