Im sure im just retarded, but can i use bilstien shocks and modify them to work on a bike for the forks? not as a realistic thing but for fun. Because i dont think they would bounce back fast enough for mountain biking.

Haha, no, not the same as a fork, not by a long shot. Different valving, no "spring side", not designed to resist lateral & torsional forces a bike exerts, etc.

Also, fwiw, if you're expecting a real pinstripe on a $400 bike, or anything of decent quality for that matter, you're overly optimistic. I'd rather replace the crappy oem pedals and "handles" (grips?) that are typically pretty weak on anything but a custom built rig, than have to replace a fork on a brand new bike. That said, in the price range you were shopping in everything comes with Suntour, RST, or bottom of the barrel Rock Shox at best, so ride it until it breaks.

Thats what im doing with my diamondback, it has the crappy suntour forks but at least its all metal unlike the Trek and Specialized, both of which had plastic pedals and brake levers etc...

I prefer plastic pedals, I do buy like 4 sets at a time though.

His manufacturing looks good, I don't care for his frame designs. Too many bends for me such as the bends in the seat stays.

Did they fix those tires, when I had them in 2006 they were shit. They would just rip apart and I only had them for less then a week.

Ummm, no. Haha. I love them, but I also don't run pegs and run 110psi. If you run them with lower pressure they tend to shred and warp. But they still are fragile as far as tires go. I'm a wheel weight weenie so I love them

Stopped by the bike shop today, straightened the front wheel, tightened the spokes, bought new tire and new inner ring. the 30 year old tire wasn't cutting it.. lol. will post pictures one of these days of my vintage 1980's hutch pro racer BMX bike restoration in progress :D

Wow... Also, I've not seen a fat-tire mountain bike like that before. I feel like they would feel incredibly lazy in corners, but I bet it's pretty stable...

Fantastic frame. I had a '95 M2. The frame tubing was more or less undentable. I did more damage to my bar ends from the bars swinging around and contacting the top tube than I did to the top tube. The one and only downside to the frame was that there was a creek in the bottom bracket area. I changed everything, cranks, bb, chainrings, front derailleur and the seatpost and still the creek remained. I discovered that most M2s had the same creek. I had people come into the shop I worked at who begged us to find the source of the noise, but I never did figure out where it was coming from on any of the ones I worked on. Still, it was a bombproof frame.
