Shot with a shotgun at close range by his brother-in-law in a hunting accident. Nearly bled to death, and missed two years in his prime. Still has like 20 lead pellets in his system, including two in his heart lining.

When he came back and started winning again, EPO had arrived with no tests to detect it, and average riders were as fast as he was and he saw the writing on the wall and retired.
Good and timely post. Just watched "Slaying the Badger"; well worth the 80 minutes for anyone with even the most casual interest in cycling:

I think the tires just kiss the wall. A classic gif.

Really good film. I had no idea the lengths they went to to hold GL back. Had to bring his own food in case the cooks were in on the deal. That coach is the most slippery, evasive, and manipulative guy even now, and I don't have much good to say about The Great HeeNo except for his natural abilities.

Curious how that works out, post an update if you go ahead with it. I was going to upgrade to a new bike for next season, but spent a bunch of money on a set of rollers instead. I was holding off on getting fitted to my old bike since why bother when I was going to replace it, but now it might be worth doing.

I feel like I've got it pretty well dialed in, but if there's any room to improve it will be worth taking advantage of for the next season or two.

Considering buying a MTB to compliment my road bike. Probably looking to spend around $500. I was thinking about going with a Specialized Hardrock or maybe a Trek Marlin...but then after some more research i found a company that offers much better components than these companies for the same price.

          Mountain Bikes - MTB - Motobecane Fly 9357 - - Fantom 29PRO - FLY Team - cross country - xc racing - hardtail - XTR - Kinesium

Looking to hear some suggestions. Im 6'2 so i think a 29er is the way to go. Ill be usingt o ride some moderate trails.

          Thanks

I bought a Motobecane through them had Ultegra/Dura Ace mix and 2x10 vs 3x9 and used all the stuff to mount on a Specialized S-works frame I had.

Have the frame still it's 7005 main tubes with CF stays to get rid of some of the harshness 7005 has on bumpy roads.

I'm currently selling all of my longboarding stuff (and some other things) trying to get enough together to build a new fixed gear. I'm torn between these two framesets right now:

                Aventon Cordoba:

                Aventon Mataro:

Cordoba is the entry-level. Great quality for cheap, and the Mataro is the next up, hydroformed top-tube and a little tighter geometry, plus an integrated seat clamp. The Mataro frameset is $69 more than the Cordoba though (both come with forks), so I'm trying to decide if the extra money is worth the differences, or if I should spend that extra money on the other components I need for the build.

That Mataro is a piece. Generic Taiwan frameset, I had the same one about 6-7 years ago for actual track racing. Geometry didn't suit me and that seat post collar slips and I generally hated it

The Motobecane seems good, especially if they were really $1000. Sadly, $500 is pretty much entry level these days. You can sometimes get more bike if you look at slightly used, but you need enough knowledge to judge condition.

Components look decent - others here will know a lot more about hydraulic brake systems.

I think I like the Cordoba better, anyway.

Wow. What class does that run in at LeMans? Appears to be mid-engined.
