      who are you talking to?

If you're talking to me - I am in school. Also, you're missing the point. I'm preaching being financially prepared for disaster. If me and my wife lost our jobs today we could float it for over a year debt free. That's called being secure. I learned this shit the hard way. however, if someone with debt had the same problem - guess what? Payments for life. Not my idea of fun. I'm trying to help - not gloat. Whatever his name is has bought into debt advertising - and apparently is quite proud of it. Debt is dangerous - it's best to avoid it - IMO ofcourse.

        Are you retarded?

When the fuck did I "buy into debt" or when was I being proud of it?

I'm not going to continue arguing with you. I'm not open to credit cards - and you're not willing to think otherwise. This is pointless. Up until this point it may have been useful to Jean. This, however - is not.

Good luck with your debt ventures.

I'll rent a car with my debit card, thank you very much. I don't really care to compare bank statements with you. I have nothing to gain from it.

It just dawned on me... where you've been getting your "material" from...

Dave Ramsey called, he said thanks for buying his self help book... then he laughed..

I'm sure it didn't take much reading through my past posts to figure that out.

                      And?

Someone steals your CC info and runs up a shitload of charges, you call your CC company, dispute it, and they kill the charges - you've got no out of pocket charges. Someone steals your debit card info, runs up a shitload of charges, you're out that money in the bank. You call your bank, they will get around to investigating it, and will probably eventually reimburse you, however, you're out that cash in the meantime. They'll take 10-15 business days to work through it. You like having a wiped out acct for 3 weeks?

What sort of perks & incentives do you have on your debit card? Does your debit card give you 6% back on gas & food? Does your debit card give you frequent flyer miles?

Based on your "credit cards are my enemy" statement, and your rote verbatim quoting of those godawful Dave Ramsey suckerbooks, I'm willing to bet that you couldn't handle a credit card, and already fucked yourself over pretty well once, haven't you. You seem a little hurt & gunshy.

lol. I had my debit card stolen and had the $$$ back that day. Use a better bank. I flat out don't need a credit card. I've seen enough people get fucked over to make me never want to have any. I had one credit card when I got out of high school and that was the only one. The Dave Ramsey stuff works pretty well for me. I don't follow what he suggests 100% - but I do use it as a general guideline. I actually got dragged to a live Dave Ramsey event by my brother in law - who has been a fan for years. I've never had to use his get out of debt techniques but I've seen them work first hand - which is why I recommend them. I mean - why wouldn't I suggest something I've seen work?

Regardless - you guys are obviously set on using debt. Whatever works for you - i guess. But cash is safe and I can grow cash. I guess there are minor perks to using a credit card - but I don't think it's worth the risks for most people. I like having cash - and I like watching my cash grow. Also, all the dave ramsey stuff isn't just debt - it's growing wealth without borrowing. It's working very nicely for me. I also like not getting bills from my bank.

I don't think there's any way you can tell me I'm doing things all wrong.

                          Jean-

I don't know the number of CC you have or what the total accumulated debt you have amounts to, but your solution is a simple two step process.

Step 1: Reduce the number of CC you have! Things like store cards and gas cards are merely a convenience more than anything else. If you have multiple Visas or MasterCards you need to retain only one of them (based on the lowest interest rate) and cut everything else up. Carrying multiple sources is of plastic is the very reason why some folks are up shits creek (financially speaking) without a paddle. They are spending money they don't really have. It's a cycle that will catch up with you eventually - as you are quickly learning. Less plastic you have, the better off you will be.

Step 2: Forget the idea of taking out a line of credit in order to pay off debt. I can understand the logic behind this idea - amass all the totals of debt into one and pay off at a slightly lower rate. However, you're still stuck in the vicious cycle....taking on debt to pay off debt

In order to pay off your current debt, you simply need to develop a month habit of setting aside $200 or $250 or $300 each month strictly for the purpose of paying off these CC. It is important that you make a payment that is more than the minimum amount.....you'll never get the debt settled that way. Its much like putting aside money every month for an investment portfolio. It is a "habit" which you have to develop and stick to until you're reach retirement age.

The New Year is almost upon us. Make your resolution getting back into good financial shape. It won't happen overnight, but it will over time if you pencil out a sensible plan that doesn't cramp your needed living expenses and stick to it until its all gone.

                          'Nuff said. /thread.
