Great for mom or dad around the house - not for pro use - I agree.

I said earlier I don't want a Ryobi. They're cheaply made, and are gutless.

Right now I'm between an 18V Rigid and another DeWalt.

Whoops. Must have missed that. Did you try the 18v Ryobi?

I am biased, but the DeWalts are nice. Working for the company that supplies the li-ion batteries to them over the summer, deWalt knows what is up! the 36v packs pack quite the punch! :P

The new 18V li-ion Rigid I was just looking at at Home depot weighed under 5 lbs.

I have one similar to that one. My GFs dad gave it to me to do shit around the house. I had some cheap POS Mikita before, and the Dewalt is all over it. Id go with the same one if you havent had a complaint before...

+1 for high end Makitas. My dad has been a contractor for years and he's always used Makitas. They get constant use from driving screws, drilling metal, drilling wood, etc, and they go all day long all week long. We're swaping bits all the time and the clutch puts up with it like nothing. He also has a really sweet Makita hammer drill for drilling concrete.

Ryobi, on the other hand... just no.

edit: forgot to mention that he has both a 14.4v and an 18v cordless.

Yeah, we have a Bosch rotohammer for concrete and stone, for when we have to go through a foundation or something.

I was so impressed by my Milwaukee 28v li-ion impact, I bought their whole 28v li-ion kit. I don't really use the circular saw, but they rest is quality.

Before you buy a Ridgid, find out what Home Depot's return policy is just in case you do not like it. The only Ridgid tools I own are a 12" sliding compound miter saw, a 1/4" air crown stapler and a dual tank air compressor. All of which I have been very impressed with their quality and ruggedness for the price.

I got a craftsman which is just a ryobi. wouldn't want to rely on it for work use though. the next one I'm going to get is the Hilti, I think their higherend stuff are still made in Europe.

otherwise imma get a bosch. since they make cool car stuff I've been buying bosch everything if it has good reviews I even have the coffee grinder made by them.

the ridgid is kinda nice and its lifetime warranty. even on stuff like their gear brushes and batteries.

Yeah, I made sure of that when I was talking to the guy in the tool department, because that was my biggest concern, was buying it and not liking it. He said that if I do buy it, and don't like it, I can still return it anytime within 90 days.

I think this is the one I'm going to get, the 18V li-ion Ridgid. I've found nothing but good reviews on it, and it looks like it's actually more powerful than my DeWalt was, and at half the weight. It's $189 at Home Depot, awesome price.
