Drills, yay! I work for a company that sells some power tools, so I have experience with Dewalt, Bosch, Makita, and Metabo. Honestly, any of the major brands like those and Milwaukees, even the Hitachi's are going to be good tools. If I were you I would go with an 18volt and make absolutely sure it's the lithium ion battery. Everything is going to be Li-Ion in a year or 2 here. It's just a better battery. Lighter, holds a charge better and is just as powerful. No matter how you cut it, 18 volts is 18 volts wether it's coming from Ni-cad or Li-Ion. Look around, you'll find something. Also, tools you buy from Home Depot or Lowe's are a lesser grade of tool than those purchased at a professional tool shop or an industrial supply house like Fastenal.
Which cordless drill do you have?

Hmmmm, now I'm looking at this one:

18V li-ion Milwaukee, weighs the same as the Ridgid. The deciding factor? Might just be that tool belt hanger on the base of the drill. There are few things harder than standing at the top rung of a 12 ft. ladder, with one hand holding an in ceiling speaking in it's bracket, and trying to reach back down to my feet to get my drill.Comment

I know you said you don't need an impact, but my dad's 14.4 dewalt impact has held up to about 3 years (so far) of daily abuse, is smaller and lighter than any regular driver or hammerdrill I've ever had, and can screw anything (it blasts tapcon's like water).
And the quick release chuck is just damn pimp. I bought it for my Dad as a christmas present and it's probably the most useful thing I've ever got him.
Other than that, my cousin has a new hitachi 18v set and that drill is pretty strong. Much lighter than other 18's I've tried and it's really comfortable.

My friend in construction mgmt has that set as well and it has surely served him well. I don't think he could recommend anything but Dewalt.
Another has a 12 or 14 Dewalt he likes, but me and someone else have loyalty to our 18.8V driver and I don't know why you would want less.Comment

the 28v Li-Ion Milwaukee's are awesome. The company i work for bought a unch of them whe nthey came out. They are wonderful, but if you dont need the hammer drill(saw you have a rotohammer) then our 1/2 chuck Snap-On drill kicks ass too, comes with the smart charger and a pimp led light and a case...very good price for what you getsigpicComment

Get it. I work for Ridgid's sister company. While that is not a true "ridgid" product, it is made by TTI one world and they own Metabo. They build those drills to Ridge Tool's specs and they are great. I own alot of ridgid stuff and back it 100%. Now if I didn't own Ridgid, I would buy the bosch litium Ion combo pack with the 14.4 drill/ impact.I think this is the one I'm going to get, the 18V li-ion Ridgid. I've found nothing but good reviews on it, and it looks like it's actually more powerful than my DeWalt was, and at half the weight. It's $189 at Home Depot, awesome price.
Yours truly,
Rich

Ive got the 18.8 Volt 4 piece combo set with hard sided tool case and it ROX! Never ever had any issue with it aside from the battery pack needed to be replaced. That was no biggie though cause I picked up 2 18.8 volt packs from a guy who sells them out of his trunk. I paid the price for one and he gave me 2... Love those deals!
I have to admit though that the belt hanger for the drill is pretty slick. Especially for the type of work that you mentioned.
Here is the pic of the set I have

I've used most drills on the market, and Dewalt has always been my preference. (Bosch isn't bad either, just a little harder to find then Dewalt). I've have a small 9.6V Dewalt that I've used (and abused) for 10 years now. Drill workes great, the batteries finally started having charging issues so I upgraded to an 18v last year. With my one good battery, that 9.6V works just as good as it did day one :)Chris
