I seem to get VWs that are nothing but massive electrical nightmares. Jetta? Eat my ass...who the fuck ever thought up having the door pin in the damn latch? They needs to be shot in the balls IMO.

Glued down carpet in fucking Rabbits? Yeah...ask any old installer what they think about vdubs...everyone I know hates them.

Oh yeah, this thread was not about that, was it? Installers hate BMW more than VW.

    Gotta love that!

      Some of my VWs:

      93 SLC

      90 G60

Maybe someday I'll take pics of my Mk1. Considering I haven't even taken pics of my E30 for a solid year, it could be a while.

Why did you VW guys get out of VW's?

I'm not being a smartass - I'm really just asking.

          Thanks,

Massive amounts of under steer and traction issues. The new vw crowd are mostly made of ex honda owners that are clueless on how to actually fabricate anything and have no originality.

two of the 3 that I once owned....

this was my old Audi CQ S2 look alike. Had her after my GTI and after realizing how expensive it was sold it in 1 year. She was a pretty car though...

              Thanks,
I replaced the vw with an audi as a daily, and got the e30 as a fun car to play with. Always wanted to try RWD after a number of FWD and AWD cars. I am not a brand fan.

Is this true? That VW's are electrical nightmares?

                  No.

It's something you hear from people who buy abused VWs and have issues with them. Usually it's due to poor maintenance or hack work by the P.O.

Also I didn't get out of VWs. I still own a VW and will probably own more in the future.

What about the Mk1's? What kinda quality or issues are you looking at with them?

I didn't mind getting rid of the G60 - as you said before it's not really the car so much as the owner history. Once I had my charger rebuild and sorted out the car's various issues (charging problems, bad grounds, etc.) it wasn't a bad car. I miss my SLC to this day, and I'm constantly lurking the Corrado classifieds on Vortex trying to find an example that matches up to my previous car at a sane price.

PS - I remember you from the Corrado forums :)

like the 84 gti is one of the funnest vw's to drive. The problem is finding one in good shape and understanding that its not going to be fast unless you do a motor swap. The swap is not hard to do and the parts are fairly cheap. Just finding the body becomes the chore. My other VW which I do not have a picture of was a 81 scirocco S. It was that orange color. I called it the German General Lee. It was fun as hell to drive but slow as hell!

My experience in terms of vw crowd is a group of people similiar to bmw crowd in that they act like other cars are crap. I know alot of the mkiv and mkv guys who get ragging hard-on's for smoking people in drag racing/street racing but when I point out that there's more to life than a straight line they call me a smug bmw owner. This attitude reminds me of the honda crowd, especially the gti's with obnoxious exhausts and bov's. I personally like hatches and the tdi engines, but since I haven't owned one or have one a lot the vw crowd just looks at me stupid when I inquire about there cars and talk cars.

Sounds like the current e30 dilemma.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.
