        Deer hunter was pretty nasty

But I prefer movies from the early 1960's such as The Longest Day on which Spielberg heavily copied to do Private Ryan, Bridge on the River Kwai, Taxi for Tobrouk or the more recent A Good German which was filmed according to cinematigraphic style of the sixties.

But I also have a sweet spot for Clint Eastwood's Flag of our Fathers.

I have also liked a few gruesome movies about the russian front.

is indeed a milestone movie that can help understand the whole situtation in the Middle East.

Great images and sublime soundtrack. I saw that movie at least a dozen times. Peter O'Tool shines.

Can you explain why you think that way? I recently re-watched Platoon and Full Metal Jacket and it is really no question which is the better movie. I guess for me, I like movies that appeal to my emotions, and Platoon definitely did that for me. Full Metal Jacket did not.

I doubt many people have seen this movie but "Shot Through the Heart". Its one of the best sniper movies I have ever seen and is about the Bosnian-Serb conflict which hasn't seen many movies at all.

Bridge On The River Kuai and The Great Escape are my favorite oldies (Von Ryan's Express gets an honorable mention).

Thin Red Line, Letters From Iwo Jima and Saving Private Ryan are my favorite new ones.

Seriously, I love Clockwork Orange, Dr. Strangelove and 2001. Full Metal Jacket on the other hand, is not one of Kubricks best movies.

I was waiting for that. Fantastic film. If it hadnt been for Silence of the lambs it would have taken the oscar that year.
