I'm just a huge fanatic. I love the cinemetography of FMJ, Kubrick's style is pouring out of that film. And I've seen just about every war movie ever made, not one has yet to depict the dehumanization process of basic training like FMJ does, especially since R. Lee Ermey was actually a Marine Corps drill instructor. I've talked to tons of guys that were in the Marines within the last 10-15 years who say it isn't like that anymore, but just as many guys who were in basic around that time, and say it was JUST like that back then. Who knows how many are lying and how many aren't, but that's with anything, really.

That scene still fucks me up anytime I watch that movie. I can't even imagine how bad that hurts, or how many times he got hit in the balls!

I like "A Bridge Too Far" and "Memphis Belle". Guns of Navarone was also one of my favorites a while back.

Man, Von Ryan's Express was a good movie to watch. Will still have to say that Kelly's Heroes and Full Metal Jacket are my favorite.

FMJ is a great flick- SOOOO much better than Platoon IMHO.

Patton is another great one and so is Apocalypse Now. I also like the Big Red One, not really in the same league as FMJ and Patton, but good nonetheless.

Blunt- you're really coming to V@V???? That spoils it for me for sure...... Maybe a mini-mini-meat? Hit me up on AIM or text me cuz......

Some of my favorite quotes- both from drill sergeants:

GODDAMMIT Pyle, what is your major malfunction??!!!!

                          Judas Priest Francis!!!

Anyone else think it's funny that Pyle is now playing a slightly wacko detective on CI or whatever that shit is called???

You guys are CRAZY for thinking FMJ is better. I do enjoy the boot camp scenes but only because of Erney's one liners. The acting is horrible compared to Platoon. Berenger, Defoe, Sheen, etc. all give incredible performances. They fit their roles perfectly. Most of the drama in FMJ seems so forced. A platoon would never send one man walking into the middle of a town, alone, in plain view. Also, after the guy was shot by the sniper, nobody would go do the same fucking thing again. What the fuck was Kubrick thinking? Then, when Joker was explaining to his superior what the quote on his helmet meant he said "the duality of man". Well way to steal the main fucking theme of Platoon there Kubrick.
