Global Warming: What do you think? What do you know?

honestly, I voted "I don't give a shit" but it does exist, there were always upswings/downswings in climate (physics/gravity/elliptical orbits +waste gasesnshit) are contributors to that. Global Warming is normal... people just didn't pay that much attention to it as they do now.Leave a comment:

There should be more people in the "I don't know enough category."
All anyone one does is hear what they want to hear and cherry pick information to back up their own desires and views.
With that, I am skeptical about human caused global warming, but I will not criticize those who believe in it, as I accept the fact that I am no expert.Leave a comment:

ROFL...the Beijing Olympics are seriously affecting the athletes because of the amount of smog and pollution they ingest while there. A good portion of the athletes got pollutions sickness. And what does Al Gore do? Sit in his cozy office in America and preach to the dumbasses that believe the climate is America's problem. "Goiing Green" although admirable is a fuckin fad. Just a ploy to make a buck...it's working. Better than cigarettes i suppose.

If the human race is the contributing factor to global warming like Al Gore says maybe he needs to go and ram his speeches up China's ass as it appears they care nothing about pollution from those pictures above and are probably the biggest contributing factor in worldwide pollution these days among other things they sling out of their country as well...
I think the planet goes through these cycles as a part of evolution on this planet and is a part of life here.
Oh and global warming is simply a phase of planet. As said before, 150 years is a blip on the face of existence.Leave a comment:

The earth will continue in it's present form for another 49,000 years at which time there will be a catastrophic change for the worse! Regardless of whether global warming is occurring or not, people are shitting where they live. Even a dog doesn't do that. I am glad that Christianity is finally acknowledging that if god gave man dominion over the earth, it is man's obligation to keep it as nice as we can. Pollution stinks and is ugly and that's the only reason we need to minimize it's effects.Leave a comment:

HAHAHHAA...touche!
I think we should keep striving to keep our environment clean - but in NO WAY do I think we are going to create a worldwide flood if ice caps melt. It's just a way for Al Gore (WTF?! WHAT DID HE DO FOR PEACE ANYWAY?!!?) and other people that are smart enough to make money and capitalize off of stupid people.Leave a comment:

I don't know but they may want to set the bong down as at one point even manure was brought up as a factor..
"the years 1998-2005 global average temperature did not increase (there was actually a slight decrease, though not at a rate that differs significantly from zero). "
"One might argue the 28-year-long period of warming which occurred between 1970 and 1998 constitutes a dangerous (and man-made) warming.
"A period of similar warming occurred between 1918 and 1940, well prior to the greatest phase of world industrialisation, and that cooling occurred between 1940 and 1965, at precisely the time that human emissions were increasing at their greatest rate."
I'm not arguing change, or saving trees, turning salt water in the potable water etc. Just the agenda and political side of global warming.
We don't know if Global warming is really good or really bad. There are theories and projections but, since we can't accurately predict the weather more than a week in advance those theories are basically worthless from a scientific perspective.Leave a comment:

How does all the weed smoked by those people who believe in global warming contribute to greenhouse gases?Leave a comment:

Guest repliedGood answer. I believe humans contribute to global warming but by no means are we 100% responsible. The Earth goes through warm and cold cycles like you said and it should also be noted that nature itself produces far more greenhouse gases then we do. These are two things that Al Gore never told the hippies.
With that being said, I believe humanity does have the responsibility to conserve the environment. With the way we are going, there will be no forests left, all the fish will be gone, and the ice caps will be completely melted.
Just a little story that is somewhat related. I recently heard about seals feeding on salmon near a dam on the Columbia River. Apparently, there are plans to kill the seals because they are interfering with "salmon restoration". What really gets me is how ignorant people can be. There wouldn't be a salmon shortage in the first place if it wasn't for 1) over fishing and 2) low oxygen levels in the water caused by fertilizer pollutants. Also, the salmon wouldn't be there, and thus the seals wouldn't be either, if the fucking dam wasn't blocking them from getting up the river. Jesus Christ people. All anybody can come up with is a quick fix for everything when we should be looking at the very root of the problemLast edited by Guest; 03-23-2008, 11:00 AM.Leave a comment:

The Weather Channel founder was talking about suing his ass for fraud. I wish he was serious about it....
"Does carbon dioxide cause a warming of the atmosphere? The proponents of global warming pin their whole piece on that," he said.
The compound carbon dioxide makes up only 38 out of every 100,000 particles in the atmosphere, he said.
"That's about twice as what there were in the atmosphere in the time we started burning fossil fuels, so it's gone up, but it's still a tiny compound,"

what about all the scientists in the seventies that thought we were headed toward another ice age? Its the same shit, people justifying their jobs and securing grants/budgets by blowing selected information out of proportion. Al Gore is a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffles.Leave a comment:
