Yeah, but these people are few and far between. Im just getting into the real world now after a year of living on the beach/ski bumming working dead end jobs. 90% of the people I worked with (servers and kitchen crew/ landscapers) were deadbeats just looking for the best way to get by. Yeah in landscaping we work our asses off, but for most of these people its just to buy the next 6er of Bud or a couple lines of blow. Certainly not to save up for a house, or support a kid, or whathaveyou like you champion these people to be doing. And that was for the people who had enough of a brain to hold a job, my landscaping company probably went through 10 or so deadbeats who didnt last more than 1-2 weeks in my 6 month tenure there. It really does come down to a problem with motivation...just working hard doesnt mean you have as much motivation as the guy making millions....Back to my roots

the other guy who spoke on the same day was a VP of the media company that has deals with eminem and others... i forget the name, but he worked for years in the mailroom to earn his way up, and too has worked 80 hour weeks to be where he is. he may not have that hard of a life now, and be rich, but he earned his place.
Like Fifedog said, is someone wants to just get by, they can and if they are uneducated/untrained, they may have hard manual labor but that doesn't mean they really put in that much more effort. Going through school, risking one's future, working long hours just to make better success in the long run is much more reason to be rewarded.

Everyone equates busting ass with digging a ditch, when in reality most of the people making 6 figures in this country are "busting ass" 80+ hours a week in meetings, on the phone, traveling to conferences, etc. Sure its not lifting 50 pounds all day, but constantly doing things for work, for waaaay longer hours than most manual labor jobs, in my book counts as busting ass.

Its because whenever someone without money comments on someone with money they act as if because they have it already, its not a big deal to spend it. Once you earn it, you dont have the same mentality. 5 grand is 5 grand, no matter which way you slice it. I dont know anyone, regardless of class or income, who will willingly just give it up to fund someone elses education, welfare, etc for nothing. Its not even a gift...Back to my roots
