I'll be mad at myself for not raising them right. Where did your parents go wrong? You even knew you were wrong in starting at 14 yet decided to make the problem worse than control it.

You had self-control not to take a drink in 27 years, but not enough to handle drinking responsibly...

the whole grumpy old man thing makes more sense now

Good for you though for probably deciding on the personal best move for you.

Does this mean I could be a social heroin user? Just a little every now and then in moderation.

As for alcohol if it did for him what it did for...and then did to me he'd be singing another story...Or possibly not... I thought I could control it (moderate) for a while.

Its this ignorant point of view that helps the drug problem in our country. I love it when people make such sweeping judgements. Makes me feel much smarter. Read up on the Science of addiction, theres been quite a few breakthroughs in the last 5 years. Youll learn that your first sentence is not only extremely offensive to those of us who had the balls and inner strength to recognize and effectively treat the problem, but its also extremely ignorant and absolutely untrue.

Controlled & destroyed by use =/= moderation for those among us with a poor grasp of the English language and comprehension.
