I deal with the TSA every day at work and I've never seen a more inept group of mindless freaks in my life. I am consistently astounded at the lack of common sense and the overwhelming amount of stupid that makes up the TSA. I cringe at the thought of having to have a conversation with one of them...

This SNL skit isnt too far off the mark:

      TSA Interview Process:

A TSA recruiter enters a room full of eager applicants and approaches a disheveled appearing person slumped over in a chair. They search for a pulse, locates it and confirms aloud to the other hiring personnel standing nearby...

"Yep - he's breathing. Get him fitted for a uniform. Sir, you're hired. Welcome to the TSA Team!"

All the alert, able-bodied applicants look on in bewilderment....scratching their heads.
      Rides...

I flew two weeks in a row out of sky harbor and was told to use a bin for each item and the next week was yelled at like I had been told 100 times to use as few as possible when I used a bin for my laptop, bag, shoes & pocket contents.

        WTF?

          Safeboot
I have this software on my laptops... right after the bios loads, Safeboot software must run with a correct password, or else the data on the HDD is corrupt. Pretty nice security blanket for taking my data to the streets!!

          a bios password is useless

Sounds great, I would not have anything on my machines that has anything to do with McAfee

And you think that they don't have techs that can crack that?

Assuming the sarcasm I think I hear I agree.

I posted this on another forum and the consensus is they are protecting us and our freedom is a casualty they are ok giving up.

                  WTF?

let me just say that the standards have been lowered to the point that anyone who applies will most likely get a job. as far as the news article is concerned i call the media just love to sensationalize everything that we do. on a different note but our nation is truly unprotected from terrorism. there are very few of us left who actually cares about the job we do. something will happen it's just a matter of time. apparently America did not learn the first time.

US Customs may be taking laptops, which still seems odd but the TSA can not do anything like that. The only airport security personnel that can take a laptop from you is EL Al, they are Israels Airline whom have there own security checkpoint in American Airports. They don't mess around.

                          Who said TSA?

                          The article says:

"U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents said he had been chosen for "random inspection of electronic media," and kept his computer for about two weeks, recalled Hogan, 55, a freelance journalist from Falls Church, Va."

                          Reading is fundamental.

Who gives a rat's ass who is taking it without cause? It's still fascist garbage and most likely a violation of the 4th Amendment.
