More like get the fuck out of there. I've already got a bunch of people I know down there packing and getting ready to head out, and not temporarily.

Well, I've made my provisions. I just went and got, mainly, stuff for my lunches for work and a few other things for the storm. I've got a bunch of Chef Boyardee, some Powerades, a couple packs of AA batteries (already had some D and C's), a couple of cool flash lights (look like glow sticks), and a slicker suit (which I needed for work anyways). I may have found a place to stash my car at. One of our neighbors that we have known for over a decade has a two car garage and only one vehicle. Seeing as I live on the lowest street in my neighborhood, and the street regularly floods up to the mailbox, that may be where I end up parking my car. It's either that or I get my buddy's parking pass and go park it on the second story of Baton Rouge Community College's parking garage, which may be the best place. Only problem with that is it is about 10 miles from here. I would love to park it here, but we have so many god damn trees around our house. I've already had one E30 destroyed by a fucking tree, I will do everything in my power to keep that from happening again.

If it comes down to it, I may have to take you up on that. I'll let you know either way by Sunday night.

Just talked to one of my buddies. He said I can use his garage to store my car. Only down side is it is on the other side of Baton Rouge. His place is actually in Brusly, south of Port Allen, on the other side of the MS river. Cool thing about it is that if it starts to flood, he can put it on the lift in his garage and get it off the ground/out of the water. Hooray for friends with lifts in their A/C'd garage. Lucky bastard.

                Gastuv Update:

Just heard on the radio this storm has been upgraded to Cat 4 status (5 being the worst) and its heading straight for N'awlins.

Expected to hit the shores Monday morning.

Expected to make land fall sometime around 2PM Monday afternoon. Currently 150MPH sustained winds. Cat5 is only 6 more MPH (156+). Hopefully with the speed it is picking up it will get here and get out of here fairly quickly. It would be real nice if was only over us for 24 hours. Probably will lose power sometime Monday night/early Tuesday morning. I will probably end up going back to work before we get power back, depending on how much damage is done to the power system.

Yea, I think it is safe to say that I am the only one in the area. Now, if F U Z Z were still on then it would be two of us.

Dude my offer still stands for you. I don't want to read next week you were found floating face down several parishes north!

Nature's wind tunnel - ideal for doing some low-drag or high-downforce aero development work on the E30. If it weren't for the rain and flying debris, it would be perfect :-P I keed....I keed.

Keep you and that car safe.

In all seriousness, stay safe and make a decision before it's too late. You don't want to look back and say "I shoulda/coulda/woulda".

I wish you and the rest of LA crowd the best of luck.

                              +1

I saw what a hurricane can do when Dennis (or Andrew) took out Navarre Beach about ten years ago.

When I say "took out", I mean "levelled" it.

I drove down the Mississippi coast a few months ago after a trip to Houston to pick up a car, and the MS Gulf is STILL f'ed up from Katrina. NO looks bad, but the MS coast is still gone.

Yea, I am moving my car out of here to a friends place tomorrow evening/afternoon. I am going to get some sandbags tonight and am going to start barricading the front, rear, and main bedroom outside doors. I'm going to reinforce everything with tarps to help keep the water out, if it should actually get that high. I have been hearing rumors of up to 24" of rain.
I went to my sister's place earlier today to watch the LSU game. When I got on the interstate to leave, I110 was backed up. From what I have heard, there is a pretty bad wreck at the TX/LA state line. That is backed up all the way to Baton Rouge. Now, whether or not that is true is another thing.
I'm going to be glad to get out of the house tonight, because this storm has people really, really on edge. The shitty part is we can only sit around and wait for it. I'm not going to be able to go back to work until like Thursday or Friday, at the earliest. I will give as regular updates as possible with pictures of water levels and idiots up until I lose power. I'll even throw up updates once power comes back on and can get back on here. Until the first update, I'm out to finish preparing.
