I get up a 5:15 am, shower, get a little bite to eat at home, and I'm good. A run like Speedhop said would be extra awesome.

      ^ so true.
SO far I tired coffee, energy drinks, loud music with rolled down window and I must tell you those things made me more sleepy than before.
My case is a bit diiferent since I drive home after work around 2 o'clock in the morning, anyway got to stay up behind the wheel right
What I do is I chew gums(specially the mint gums) or the best is to have ice breakers, i prefer gum 'cos a gum will last longer.
So far that worked very well, i do not fall asleep behind the wheel.
      Give it a try

I have to get up around 6AM and I HATE mornings.. So, I've read and am going to try some of these suggestions. I know running or exercise has worked great for me in the past, but that means you have to wake up even earlier!!

I have a pretty weak stomach too when it comes to energy drinks/ soda/ coffee. It sent me straight to the toilet. I drink un-sweet iced tea for caffeine. Also, that shower in the morning really does help.

the single thing that i've found to help in me being alert for the better part of the day is trivial, but seems to work (for me). don't eat outside food. seriously. stay away from taco bell, subway, bk, mcd, jacks, subway, quiznos all that shit. i find that when im able to eat home made meals for the majority of my caloric intake, i have a much easier time during the day, i feel vibrant, and in fact i dont need any coffee at all. i know this sounds lame but i was a caffeine addict. now im down to 1 or no cups a day. seriously. and im shuckin and jivin for about 60-70 hrs a week, so im not shitting you. i'm not a bajillionaire but i buy decent groceries to begin with (whole foods, trader joes, shit even costco has some good stuff), stay away from processed foods, and you'll feel way better. helps in sexy time too.

Early morning masturbation is not the answer here. This I know.

Blast the heat with your windows rolled down... Thats what I do..And if you have to, put some music in that you cannot stand, so that something is irritating you. lol.

Werd to that. That's what I do when I can't get to sleep at night. Puts me out in about 5 minutes flat afterward.

When I had to commute, i just took the chance. I caught myself dozing off a few times, it always worked out though.
