    I understand it perfectly.

Racing, autocrossing, and other forms of timed motorsport competition are very cool, and have their place, and require a lot of talent and skill.

But for some reason, because drifting isn't a timed event, it somehow loses credibility amongst the racing crowd (I'm generalizing here), and many are led to believe it requires little talent or skill.

Just because they're not running against a clock or banging fenders for the next corner doesn't mean they're not skilled drivers. Being a good drifter means you have impeccable car control - something ANY racer or driver should aspire to.

I give them all the respect they deserve...road racers, oval track, drag, dirt, whatever. It all takes talent, and it all feels good.

i read this and immediately thought this guys an imbecile but i think all hes saying is an experienced drifter is going to kill a non experienced drifter. because he couldnt possibly believe a skilled drifter can beat a skilled road racer around a course

well of course you're not going to win Le Mans sideways

but practicing drifting would definitely add some tricks to anyone's arsenal
Not that I care, of course.

                  Some people like figure skating.
                  Some people like hockey.
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

the comments about drifting being the "figure skating" of motorsports

this shit isnt planned or choreographed. when 2-4 cars go out at once theres no plan other than try to get as close as possible and not hit or spin out.

to each there own. i just hate the no talent assumption...
