Removing deterrents such as jail, probation, and the stigma associated with the preceding will perceptually minimize the consequences of an addiction to hard drugs. I never knew one drug addict that was happy with themselves and their situation; every addict, including myself, was always trying to get clean and sober. I completely understand why drugs are illegal.

There would still be plenty of laws governing its use and ramifications of it. Alcohol is legal, but it's still against the las to drive/operate machniery/be in sole care of small children/carry a weapon/etc.

Legalize it, tax the ever living fuck out of it and you at least remove a huge revenue stream from these low lifes.

But then again, prohibition worked really well......let's continue down that path.
