In order for this to pass it is going to need to be more thought out. My issue with it is growing up to 25 square feet per residence or parcel. To me this just encourages dealing out of residential homes which create high traffic and less than desirable people who may be looking for something better than weed. It also sets up homes to be robbed which could include surrounding homes just because they are already there. There could something that allowed rural growing but I don't know, it might tread to closely to why not let it be done in homes within city limits. In other news:
Measure to legalize marijuana will be on California's November ballot
An initiative to legalize marijuana and allow it to be sold and taxed will appear on the November ballot, state election officials announced Wednesday, triggering what will probably be a much-watched campaign that once again puts California on the forefront of the nation's debate over whether to soften drug laws....The initiative would allow adults 21 or older to possess up to an ounce for personal use....The initiative would also allow adults to grow up to 25 square feet of marijuana per residence or parcel.

You can't distill hard alcohol at your home or without a license so why should people be allowed to grow weed at their home and without a license. For it to be properly taxed it needs to be set up as a business. No residential growing and selling, keep it in commercial areas and in strictly commercial buildings. I think they need to have a license to either grow or sell. People will still grow in their homes but not on a large scale, it should be easier to just do it legally if you want to sell.
This is me as someone who doesn't smoke weed now and won't when its legal so just my 2 cents. I am guarantee the points I made will be used to campaign against it being legalized and people will listen. I would love for all the co-ops to finally have to pay taxes on their bullshit business's that they are operating but its not going to happen if their is no regulation. In that current form, why wouldn't you just grow it legally at your home and all your friend's and then sell it tax free just the same as you always did.Leave a comment:

Since when is pot an opiate?Ask yourself why I posted that and you'll realize that it has absolutely nothing to do with building my own personal knowledge base; I've seen one already, so I don't have to prove to myself that it's possible. Farbin asked me directly to, "Please, show me where it has been shown that those two [marijuana + EtOH] cause that", which is exactly what that case report does.
Anyone who paid attention in their middle school health class knows opiates can cause cardiac arrest, but being more likely doesn't do anything to refute the researchers' conclusions.
I guess I'm just picking at the "it's more dangerous than you think" issue but it seems like most people here are aware of that. Still, I think it's important to increase public awareness of all possible complications, especially as more people start to use.
It's obvious where I stand on this issue by now and I expect plenty of criticism on that, I'm not sure where the "fucking retarded glorified taxi driver" bullshit is coming from; I guess you know more about myself than I do.
Oh I'm glad you left this out of your post too, from the article.
"In our case, two facts need to be addressed. Firstly, the cannabis causality was assumed on the result of the positive urine drug screen; hence, a full toxicology screen was not pursued. "Last edited by HarryPotter; 03-25-2010, 08:21 AM.Leave a comment:

This guy hit the nail right on the head. There is no problem with casually smoking weed. But when an entire group's lives start to revolve around it, then it becomes an issue. Just like alcohol. Or any drug. I've seen it happen to friends and it's sad.Leave a comment:

Do you know what a case report is? It's a report of a VERY RARE patient encounter (in which they clearly suggest that COCAINE is more likely than weed/EtOH to kill someone due to an arrhythmia). Wait a few years until you learn something before posting medical info dipshit. BTW try a META ANALYSIS if you want some real info.

Good call by the way, I am a basic, but can you guess what else?
Let's see, I'm airlifted into pretty dangerous places, I can have a person out from under a building in a matter of hours, and then I take them back up to the helicopter and set an IV while we fly off into the sunset. It's a little bit beyond the basic scope of practice isn't it?
And yeah, I still get a tingle downstairs when my pager goes off, even if I am just a bus driver. It's a good way to pass the time during school and between disasters.
