You really believe if it wasn't for pot these people wouldn't try any other drugs? I'm sure they never consumed alcohol.

If you actually took time to understand the subject your talking about you would find that THC actually accelerates cell growth and works as an expectorant for your lungs. But we can all see that you haven't.

Dont touch a joint, because it will instantly turn you into a fuck up that will keep you at a minimum wage job! Your argument truely is retarded

You aren't in any position to control people for their 'own good'. Everyone is different and there are definitely people who have more abusive personalities but stop trying to be some pat roberston kind of guy by tell them whats better for themselves.

    Such is life mother fucker..
and your argument is MORE retarded. as soon as you resorted to name calling a personal attacks I knew I was dealing with a mental giant. I cant count how many people that I know have smoked pot and went to more serious drugs.

It's your life, lungs and over all health. SMOKE UP JOHNNY! Hope you have enough brain cells to run a register at Jack in Box.

btw read my sig. this pertains to this thread and YOU....have a nice day

People LOVE to blame everything else for there addiction except themselves. Don't blame the guy in the liquor store why you cant stop drinking. People tend to be there own worst enemy.

As someone who lives in BC, I have to say it should be legalized, taxed and distributed to anyone and everyone who wants it. There are far worse drugs out there, and your govt spends billions on the WAR ON DRUGS. If weed was legaized in BC, and taxed, it would TRIPPLE our province's leading industry (Forestry/Tourism) in revenue.

There is no other strain of plant life on the face of the earth that is remotely similar in molecular structure or dna makeup. It is a one off for the the entire planet. interesting you say?

google video "The Union - the business of getting high"

this documentary is done very well and looks at the other side of the cannabis plant and its benefits, as opposed to the stoner view.

if you want to learn something other than what your government brainwashes you with watch this video.

What I find most amusing is all the rationalizations in this thread on why pot should be legal. It will only give people more of a chance to go in a downward spiral.

I'm sure you are aware of the facts but I will just reiterate...

    Effects on Daily Life
Research clearly demonstrates that marijuana has the potential to cause problems in daily life or make a person’s existing problems worse. In one study, heavy marijuana abusers reported that the drug impaired several important measures of life achievement including physical and mental health, cognitive abilities, social life, and career status.11 Several studies associate workers’ marijuana smoking with increased absences, tardiness, accidents, workers’ compensation claims, and job turnover.
Right, because we shouldn't expect people to take responsibility for their own actions.

And i hope you don't think prohibition stops any of these people from consuming drugs.

My "dad" is an alcoholic.. Because of whiskey, he was more prone to increased father absence, tardiness to baseball games, accidents in a car, no workers compensation claim (didnt work, too drunk), and job turnover (see previous). It really impaired several important measures of life achievement including physical and mental health, cognitive abilities, social life, and career status. Last time I checked, the dude at the liquor store will gladly sell you the tool to achieve such a lack luster life. Its got nothing to do with the plant, but more to do with the operator and their own self motivation and willingness to provide THEMSELVES with a fulfilling and rewarding life.

So we need to ban concerts, marijuana, booze AND stupid people....

You see a cross section of society at most concerts. There are stupid people everywhere. They are not a product of pot. They are a product of society. They would be stupid without the pot.

That said, although I am not and have never been a user, I have many friends who are. They are intelligent people, not drug abusers. No matter the substance, there will be those who will abuse it. Banning it does not prevent abuse. Witness the never-ending War on Drugs. Zero Tolerance laws fill prisons with non-violent offenders whose job prospects are ruined forever because the got caught with a little pot. Spending $30,000 a year to feed, house and clothe someone who is not a threat to himself or society is absolutely ridiculous. We have to release violent people to house them!

Drug laws are fucked up too:

Section 115 of the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act of 1996 (more familiarly known as the welfare reform act), under which persons convicted of a state or federal felony offense for selling or using drugs are subject to a lifetime ban on receiving cash assistance and food stamps. Convictions for other crimes, including murder, do not result in the loss of benefits. Section 115 affects an estimated 92,000 women and 135,000 children.

So, kill your granny and keep your benefits. Get caught smoking pot and face a lifetime ban. Yeah....that's fair...

Got busted and want to turn your life around-maybe go to school? Not so fast....

The 1998 Higher Education Act's (HEA) drug provision (also known as the "Aid Elimination Penalty"), which states that people with drug convictions cannot receive federal financial aid for a period of time determined by the type and number of convictions. This law does not apply to others with convictions, including drunk-driving offenses, violent crimes, or other criminal offenses. Since the law went into effect in 2000, some 200,000 have been denied student financial aid.

Of course, you can drink yourself into a stupor, beat your wife and kids, drive under the influence and kill someone, and even you go to jail, you can keep all your benefits. But smoke one joint.......

They don't have to go around trying to fight everyone to be just as bad. I saw things that absolutely astounded me when I worked some Grateful Dead cover band concert. Man had his baby in a bouncer strapped to his chest, blowing marijuana smoke in the kid's face walking around the concourse. The kid looked to be just over a year old. Later on we had to deal with a 7 year old girl who was covered in her own vomit, was bleeding from her ears, and had a raging fever. Her parents refused to allow her to be transported to the hospital once they found out they would have to go with her. Police had to put them in PC, we notified CPS, and she was taken to the hospital, too bad she'll probably end up in a foster home. And to finish off that night, a 2 year old boy was without his parents for 3 and a half hours. He was found wandering the concourse by one of the other teams of EMTs and sat in the box office with a policeman until the concert ended and his parents decided to look for him. All of the adults involved were on the order of 30-50 years old.
