Public opinion polls are so worthless. The general populace is so clueless on national and international affairs... it makes it difficult for me to give two shits what they think about convoluted public policy measures.

Individuals should be required to pass a short "current affairs" quiz before they're allowed to give their opinion in a political poll.

if I remember correctly, the US stepped in because Japan fucked up its shit. Prior to that American businesses were selling supplies to both sides of the conflict. The stopping of all that jew killing was a side product.

You are aware that during WWI the brits needed good quality Glass ( Binoculars, rifle scopes and what not) zee Germans needed rubber. A back room deal was brokered through the swiss to trade rubber for glass. While neither side went through with it, the Germans decided the cost in German lives for a bit of rubber would be too great by giving good enemy marksmen good glass so they backed out at the last.

The fact remains the evil US is not alone in such deals, just 20 years earlier than pearl harbor 2 countries that were at war with each other were making deals to provide each other with need supplies.
