They do allow other players in the game. They simply protect what is theirs. Hell, there are so many stacks out now with multiple companies' patents roll all into one seed - both get some of the $ no matter whose name is on the bag. (SmartStax takes advantage of Yieldgard VT Triple (Monsanto), Herculex Xtra (Dow), RoundUp Ready 2 (Monsanto), and Liberty Link (Dow).) Patents expire, and they have to invest in new ways to add value to farmers.

You don't know anything. Small farmers can tell MON to fuck off and go with a local seed company. Go conventional, spray more herbicides instead of a pre and post-application of roundup. (Here's a hint, there's more and more going this route. Or GreenLeaf Genetics and never have to worry about big bad Monsanto again) Make sure you have ample space between a farmer who is using HT crops. Little things like this are really starting to wear on me. Public signs, directions/ingredients on packages? How much more accommodating is this country going to be? What initiative are we showing immigrants on learning the English language?

My parents came to the US in the early 70's and did not know how to speak/write in English.... Nothing was a handout then and they learned by what ever means they had possible.

I gotta laugh my ass off about this thread, no idea about how modern agriculture works or what the hell cinco de mayo is; its the only Mexican holiday worth celebrating.....not because of the booze but because its another notch in the loss column for the French and fighting wars.
