While I agree with the 'don't talk' for the most part sometimes it is better to just go with the flow and play their game so you can go home. Going to be a long winded 'story' here but you will get the idea.
1am - Bored and just changed 2 E30s oil. My catch can is full and we need more oil. Hey let's just drive to walmart. 3 E30s all leave. 1 person in each car. Get oil. Travel back to house. County officer flips a bitch. Last E30 has an HID out. He was backed into. Of course he is going to be pulled over.
Friend is pulled. We continue on and 1/8th mile later pull into a closed gas station. Shut off cars and wait. First 2 cops. then 4 and finally it ends up being 7 officers. We are now 'trapped' in this gas station parking lot. 5 minutes of lights blasting on us(spot lights) an officer approaches us each.
License, registration and the standard questing of what is going on. Needless to say we answer. Went to get some oil. Driving back. Bored. Here is receipts for oil. Friend got pulled over(even pointed to them on the road back down the road).
Friend get's let go after he shows police report and insurance information on his car needing to be fixed. He pulls up. We laugh and joke and most of the officers like our E30s. They let us go and tell us that multiple calls that evening had been placed of people drifting. Thus we were targeted(3 loud cars driving at 1am).
So now... the better strategy was to tell the cops to fuck off in that situation? So then what? They can pretend they smelled weed and search our cars? Or get us all out of our cars and hassle us for hours? Wait for their boss to come out and hassle us as well?
Sorry but if you didn't do anything wrong. You don't have anything to hide. Being polite and telling the truth(definitely when you have SOLID PROOF) I have found is the better thing. I am not one to be 'nice' to police as I have been profiled and targeted on many occasions but in some situations you are better off going with the flow rather than pretend you know the law and getting high and mighty and pound your chest with this amendment and that amendment.
My 2 cents.
