Friends have many things they agree on...that's what makes them friends. Having to hold your tongue knowing you're going to create an argument is pointless.
Friends also have many things they disagree on, being able to have a civil debate about something and still remaining friends shows real friendship

The best way to get along with people whose beliefs differ from yours is to not bring it up.

One of my ex-gfs was super hardcore liberal, and I'm a libertarian. Any and all political debates would end in a fight, so maybe two months in to it we realized this and decided not to bring it up.

Being civil when you debate things is also pretty important -- I can hold perfectly mature debates with my friends about politics, regardless of their beliefs, and none of us end up feeling like we were attacked, etc.

But if you can't, for some reason, simply be mature and instead resort to flinging shit, then just avoid it, and you'll be better off.

You would never see the founding fathers passing a bill preventing a business owner from allowing smoking on their own property. Or allowing Government to take land out from under a land owner whether they like it or not. It just wouldn't happen.

You are so wrong, The right of the country to take private property form us citizens for public use "eminent domain" is part of the US constitution written in 1791. I will agree with you on the smoking, however as a non smoker I am glad I dont have to deal with smoking in restaraunts
