no German citizens attacked for the most part because most German citizens were against the war. If you did not join the army and fight, you could be jailed.
Another thing Germany and Japan had in common was a huge propaganda machine that motivated people to fight, those that did not get motivated to fight found themselves getting "more motivation" and it is not a real fair comparison to what we are dealing with today.

we are in a much different world today. For less than $1000 you send someone to the USA from just about anywhere in world. with the internet and cell phones and ATM cards it is alot easier today then it was 50 years ago.
