If this is a poke at me I assure that not the case. My point in this thread was the the Dems have been in control of CT for a VERY VERY VERY long time, and have brought this issue upon them selves

True, Bush's prescription entitlement is going to be a killer in years to come.

Unfortunately for us, the Repub's have become Dem-Light, using entitlements as a way to buy votes.

ok, so one state is having problems. that sucks. my condolences.

but look what bush did to the entire country. he sunk the entire place into the biggest slump since the 30s. and he even had a surplus when he took office. i can imagine (that even if there was going to be a market downturn) that if we had used the money spent in iraq and afghanistan on OUR OWN COUNTRY, we would be waaaay better off. i think im going to run out of ideas on what we could do with 1 trillion dollars of war time spending, spent on the u.s. infrastructure. man.. how about a race track near every major city! that would be fuckin awesome. that would be chump change. and im sorry, its not possible to argue with the fact that if we had spent that money on ourselves, we would be better off. bush lied. he said we were going to iraq cause there were WMDs!! guess what? they didnt exist! then it become, oh, the al-qaeda and saddam are allies, and since al-qaeda hit the WTC, we should go after iraq. guess what? they hate each other! oops. well by now we are too far in to say, "my b dawg." so what does bush do? LETS INVADE ANOTHER COUNTRY AND DISTRACT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ABOUT IRAQ! way to go bush. great success!

and all the big government haters. bush made the executive branch the most powerful it has ever been. he should be your arch-nemesis. you should absolutely LOATHE him.

and im not saying we shouldnt kick those taliban and al-qaeda fucks to the curb, but we should have taken care of our own issues first.

This is about the state of Connecticut being fucking broke despite the being the "richest state in the union" and getting their credit rating reduced because of that fact. All while having one of the highest marginal tax rates in the country with the most money to tax. Next the reason for the bong hit comment is Dip shit h0lmes referenced the war spending by the federal govt, Well that comparing Apples to E30 diving boards. As I pointed out before states cant wage or declare war, against sovereign nations.

While this sounds good, and in reality should have taken a little more precedence, but we could not ignore the mistakes of even further back than bush, and the fact that we were attacked on our own soil in a time of peace.

with all due respect every state, county, and municapality that saw rapid property value increase during the boom is in big trouble now as alot of budgets come from property tax.

we were attacked on our own soil. that is true. and we should get some for it.

but iraq had nothing to do with it. what valid reasons do we have on invading it? they didnt have wmds, they didnt support al-qaeda. i mean.. what else is there? saddam was mean to his citizens. great. there are a dozen dictators like this.

if we had gone after al-qaeda specifically. ok, i get it. but invade a whole country on trumped up charges? then when we are in financial trouble, we are uber broke because we spent all our money on war. now we are fucked more than what al-qaeda did to us. 3000 (+their families) lives ruined. well now we have hundreds of thousands of lives ruined due to financial troubles.

invading iraq just didnt make sense. it was a plain dumb fucking idea.

CT taxes blow. you know those extra taxes are lining pockets. a lot of the roads are shit even in high yuppy areas like Monroe. there's over 1,000 millionaires in CT or more, cant remember. Hartford has one of the highest crime rates in the USA i read a couple years back... taxes- you get taxed to use the bathroom basically.

While I agree with you fundamentally, right war poor timing.

How many times must I repeat myself.

                          1) we know he had WMD we gave them to him to use against the Iranians during the Iran/Iraq war in the early 80's

                          2) used on his own people in the north in 86 iirc.

                          3) claimed right up to his hangin that he has/had them.

                          4) Violation of the NATO no fly zone constantly (grounds by its self to go back in)

                          5) just cuz we didnt find the WMD does not mean they are not there still, there is 169k sq miles of nothing to bury and hide the shit in.

                          6) ok so if there really are no WMDs all the BAD intell pointed to them being there. IE Saddam posturing and bluffing and daring the west to come in and find them. So really even it was not true that doesn't change the fact that there was enough evidence pointing to their existence

So you are blaming the sand box escapades for the economic collapse??????
