I am against having a firing squad due to the mental toll it can take on the excecutioners. They should just have an automated mini gun or something that cuts them in half.

The firing squad does not know who has the bullet, the rest are blanks.

It still has to have an operator.

You could force the inmates that were on death row with them to pull the trigger. So they can spend 25 years making friends, then be forced to kill them. And then know that one day, it will be them in front of the barrel.
God bless the state of Utah....good to see some common sense being exercised. What gets me is how this inmate requested to be shot as the form of his death sentence and yet people are getting their noses all disjointed. This guy asked and he received.....doesn't sound like anything wrong to me. He chose his destiny and justice was served.
As for the topic of public execution (such as televised), I am all for this. We already glorify murder and violence on TV and in the movies, public executions would be the best "reality show" out there. Personally, I'd like to see this bit of nostalgic means of execution put to use....

Ok everyone, keep in mind, The State of Utah no longer uses the Firing Squad as an option for execution for Death Row inmates. The only convicts allowed to be executed by this method are those who were convicted and sentenced to death BEFORE the removal of this option to prevent further legal battles/appeals/issues/reversals of convictions.
This is only gonna happen a few more times, IF that in this State.
Who should be in charge of killing the death row peeps??? Should it be left to the people of the city or county in which the crime occurred??? Really law enforcement and keeping us from harming each other is one of the sole JOBS of the govt (by design anyway).
No one should be in charge of killing peeps because no one should be killing prisoners. Simple. And you dont need execution to "keep us from harming each other". Imprisonment does that job. Its been shown time and time again that the death penalty is no more a deterent to crime than life in jail.
Call it what it is, the death penalty is bloodlust retribution, nothing more. You can lie to me and say it aint, but you cant lie to yourself.
