I think where we should draw the line is when these things that people are born with hurt other people. Pedophilia is wrong because it hurts the child, beastiality is wrong because it hurts the animal, arson is wrong because it destroys property and can kill people. Homosexuality doesn't hurt anybody. It is a private thing between two consenting adults.
I understand that the argument of being born with it is really a bad argument. But it is in response to the equally terrible argument from anti-gays that homosexuality is a choice not made by God and therefore it is a sin.

well thats the argument I guess that also encompasses nature vs. nurture . You can't be born any of those things but you can be born gay.the fill in the blank was supposed to be more along the lines of something that is generally unacceptable by people, but argued by some thats how they are.
such as being a pedophile or a someone into beastility or a arsonist or someone who loves to kill. claiming your born like that so it must be ok and we must accept you isn't a valid argument.
But I accept the fact that you will not be able to look at it that way because how can a god who says homosexuality is wrong make homosexuals?Leave a comment:

sure the vatican and any and every religion can refuse to recognize a civil union, because religions are irrelavant and meaningless, it is the goverment that taxes you that needs to change, we can worry about the after life when we are dead!Leave a comment:

They are trying to keep a standard. Unfortunately hetros are already making a mockery of this sacrament."Im a (fill in the blank) because i was born that way, so it must be ok, is not a valid argument."
In court, being homosexual is not a crime...
BTW It's perfectly okay for the Vatican to refuse to accept religious homosexual marriage. It's its prerogative. But perhaps they should adopt the philosophy of "living and letting live". So, if states and countries around the world recognize civil marriage as valid and offer the same legal conditions, then perhaps church goers should stop barking at it... and especially accept that other peoples might not think like them. ;-)Leave a comment:

you said it yourself CHOOSE, gays do not have the choice to get married. they want the benefits but have no choice in the matter.
there is a very competitive market for highly qualified employees, if you want to steal the best employees from your competition vs. highering an unemployed person you have to offer something better than your competition does to entice these people to leave their current jobs.Leave a comment:

Being gay was once illegal too. Your rebuttal is weak and invalid ;)
Technically, some states still have anti-sodomy laws, so yes you can be committing illegal acts...thankfully most of these states don't enforce these laws.Leave a comment:
